On The Run

Ch 20.

Daisy's POV

I slowly opened my eyes. The light was blinding so I started to raise my hand to cover my eyes. As I picked up my hand I felt something weighting it down. I looked at my hand to see Ward's hand over mine. He was sitting on a chair next to me, fast asleep.

Jemma walked into the room. "Daisy good, your awake." Jemma said quite loudly. I pressed my finger up to my lips in a shushing motion. I then pointed to Ward and she nodded her head.

A few minutes later Ward started to wake up. "Hey." I said quietly.

He smiled. "Hey."

I squeezed his hand. "How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Me?" He questioned. "I wasn't the one who was tortured."

I chuckled. "Fair enough." We both smiled.

"Daisy, Ward." Someone said. I turned around to face the voice. It was Coulson. Yesterday I got a quick recap of how Coulson was a director of a spy organization called SHIELD and how Hydra is their biggest enemy.

"Can I talk to you in my office?" Coulson asked.

I looked over at Jemma who was still in the room. She nodded her head letting me know that I was healthy enough to leave.

Ward helped me up and we walked to Coulson's office.

When we got there Ward and I sat down in two chairs across from Coulson, who sat at his desk.

It was silent for a moment before he began.

"Ward, Daisy." Coulson started. "This may be sudden but in just the past 24 hours I have seen so much from you two, from your navigational skills" he said looking at Ward "and your ability to hold up under torture." He said looking at me. "I would like to offer you a job." Ward and I both froze. "More specifically I would like to train you two to be proper field agents."

It took me a second to process what he had said but once I did I started to smile. I looked over at Ward who was also smiling. "Could you give Ward and I a minute to talk." I asked.

"Of course." Coulson said, before walking out of the office.

I turned towards Ward. "What do you think?" I asked.

"I'm not sure." He said. "It could be really dangerous."

"I understand." I said, feeling a little disappointed that he wasn't as excited as I was.

"But..." He said smiling. "If you want to, I'm in."

"Really?" I asked excitedly.

"Really." He said.

We hugged each other just as Coulson walked into the office. "Have you two came to a conclusion?" He asked, slightly smiling.

"We would love to join SHIELD." Ward said.

Coulson smiled and walked over to hug Ward then me.

"Thank you Coulson." I said as we walked out of his office.

I looked up at Ward as we walked around the base. I couldn't wait to start this new chapter in my life and the best part is that it would be with Grant Ward.
