Chapter Eight

"This is no ordinary gig."Jesse states.

"We won't make it if we just improvise."

"It's either we go in giving it our all or we don't go in at all."

"Consequently, that means that for the next couple of months, we'll have to make use of every moment we get."

"This is going to be a blood bath. I know."

"Relax." Says Jordan.

"They're not professionals."

"Yeah but some of them know music better than any of you." Says Jesse.

"Well." Starts Austin.

"No turning back now."

"I'll give it my all."

"At least someone's showing some dedication here." Says Jesse.

BUZZZZZZZZZ

"What was that?" Jesse asks.

"Ah! It's my phone." Austin says quickly.

He gets his phone out clumsily and sees that it's a call from Lauren.

"Uh... I'll be right back."

He ducks under the half open garage door and gets himself outside.

Looking back at his phone's screen he answers.

"Hey."

"Austin! Are we still on for movie night next week at my place?"

"Uh yeah."

"Okay good. My parents wanted me to make sure so they wouldn't leave me home alone."

"Wait. Your parents are leaving?"

"Yeah? Didn't I tell you? They're visiting my uncle in France for a couple of weeks."

"Then who's staying with you while they're gone?"

"Grandma."

"Oh. Okay."

"Relieved you won't have to baby sit me?"

"Ahah. Yeah. You can be such a child sometimes, you know."

"Austin!"

"What? You brought it up."

SLAM!

"What was that?"

"I don't know. I'll have to call you back later."

Austin put his phone back inside his pocket and rushed inside only to find his guitar in pieces on the floor beside Jason.

Austin ran to it and fell to the floor.

"No..." He whispered.

"Austin, I promise I didn't mean it. I-It was an accident."

"Yeah it sure looks like one. What's your problem Payne?!" Austin said as he flings towards Jordan.

Jesse catches him quickly grabbing him from the stomach and pulling him back.

"Austin, stop! He's telling the truth."

"I'm sick of your crap, Payne!"

"Austin, this really wasn't his fault." Says Jason.

Upon hearing that, Austin hen calmed down and stopped squirming. Jesse let go of him and let him fall to the floor.

That guitar meant everything to Austin. It was his very first. It held so much memories he cherished exceedingly in his heart. And to see that all shatter into pieces right in front of him was just unbearable. Not one of them could truly understand why it meant so much to him or what he felt at that very moment.

"Austin? You okay, man?" Jesse asked with a quiet tone.

"Yeah." Austin replied as he got up to his feet again.

"I'm fine."
