Chapter 6
I woke up to an annoying buzzing sound. I pulled my phone out saw 27 missed calls and messages from
Eli.
“Oh shit!”, I yelled in fear.
“Woah what’s wrong?”, Deven asked waking up.
“I really need to get home!”, I said slipping on my shoes.
I called Cotey asking where she was.
“Where are you!? Why’d you leave me here”, I yelled in frustration.
“I was banging on the door but it was locked and I couldn’t be out past curfew”, She explained.
“Alright well I’m coming over to your place to get my car”, I said.
“I’ll be waiting at the door with your keys”, She said then hung up.
I turned to Deven and he already offered to take me to her house. We got in his car and he dropped me
off at Cotey’s place. I thanked him and grabbed my keys then raced home. Eli’s car was in the garage so
I knew he was inside ready to grill me. I twisted the knob and to my surprise wasn’t granted by yelling yet.
I made my way to my room and saw him laying on my bed.
“Where the hell have you been”, He said not looking at me.
“I was at Cotey’s house remember, I just over slept at her place”, I lied.
“Stop fucking lying to me!”, He snapped.
“What do you m-mean”, I stuttered nervously.
“ I called her parents and they said you all left the house already, Im gonna ask you one more time where
the hell were you”, He yelled.
“Okay I was with her at her boyfriend’s house”, I confessed.
“Cyrena! Was it that hard to just tell me you were there”, Eli fussed.
“I know but I thought you would flip out like now”, I said.
He sighed crossing his arms, “Just watch out for these fuck niggas alright”.
“How would you know”. I scoffed.
“Cause I am one, Im that guy who girls talk shit about, Im the one who hit em and quit em”, He said
walking out my door.
He left me to let that sink in which it did.
Later that Day....
I was laying on my bed when I got a text from Cotey.
Cotey~ Hey so you get in trouble?
CeCe~Nah my bro was just angry but he’s cool now
Cotey~Cool, but you know our performance is this upcoming friday right
CeCe~Yupp I didn’t forget plus I got us outfits XD
Cotey~Awesome! what do they look like!?

After that I grabbed my keys and headed to Vanessa’s place. I asked her to put together some outfits for
my school performance. She happily greeted me and asked me to fill her in on what’s all been happening.
I gladly let her know everything from making the cheerleading team, to being with Deven that night.
“Damn sounds like you got quit the social life going on huh”, She said nudging me.
“Haha yeah I guess so but did you happen to have our outfits ready”, I asked.
“Yupp lemme go get them for you”, She said walking into the back.
A couple of seconds later she came back out with the outfits, each in there own separate bags. I
unzipped mine and gasped they were perfect! I threw my arms around her then thanked her.
“Ha your welcome just don’t get side tracked with these boys”, She laughed.
“I won’t”, I said thanking her once more.
I left her place and went to Cotey’s to drop off her outfit. Once I got there I saw Kyle’s car in the driveway.
Expecting a love fest they were playing soccer in the living room.
“Hey here’s your outfit for friday”, I said handing it to her.
“Thanks!”, She said hugging me.
“No problem, but I’ll leave y’all before I get hit in the face with a ball”, I said laughing.
“Ha bye CeCe”, Kyle waved as I left.
I waved back and went back home. I was just chilling with Eli watching tv when my phone started
buzzing. I got a call from an unknown number.
CeCe~Who is this?
Jay~ Its Jay I accidentally ran into you remember
CeCe~Oh yeah! So uhm how’d you get my number
Jay~My buddy Kyle got it he said he knew you
CeCe~Oh okay so uhm wassup
Jay~Nothing much just was thinking I should make it up to you by getting lunch..its on me
CeCe~Oh! wait you left that note in my locker!
Jay~Haha yeah
CeCe~ Im sorry I thought it was from someone else so I threw it away
Jay~ Sheeesh damn maybe you owe me now
CeCe~ Ha nah you knocked the wind outta me!
Jay~Aight so you wanna go to Chipotle
CeCe~Sure
Jay~Alright meet you there at 2
I hung up, went to my bedroom, and changed out of my sweats and put on some comfy jeans. When I
grabbed my keys Eli asked where I was headed off to. I gladly told him chipotle with friends. He nodded
and I went to meet Jay. Once I got there we ordered, and sat down. We talked for about two hours of just
nonsense. It was a very friendly vibe instead of a relationship type of date.
"Well I had a great time with you", I said throwing my trash away.
"It was fun ", He agreed.
"Alright I guess I'll text you later", I said waving goodbye.
"Bye", He yelled as I walked out the door.
I really enjoyed spending time with Jay he was really funny and had a spunky attitude. We both clearly
took this as hanging out not even close to a date. On my way home Deven called me and wanted to
drop by. I immediately told him no because I had strict parents. I was starting to notice the more I start to
create more friendships people are going to want to hang out at my place.
