It is Not All Filmed in Miami
Dexter is set in Miami, Florida, and the characters frequently mention well-known landmarks and streets around the city. However, most of the filming takes place in California. The exterior shots are actually sites in Long Beach, California, while the interiors are filmed at Sunset Gower Studios.
