To sedate his prey so he can take them to his kill room, Dexter injects them with etorphine hydrochloride. This animal tranquilizer is potent enough to use on elephants and is legally available only to people with a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license for the product. The producers never explain how Dexter is able to acquire it.
