Being dragged into a room full of vampires was never one of my life aspirations, but here I am with my 'mate' being forced to eat pizza.

"Fawn, you've got to eat."

"I don't want too."

"Fawn."

"Luke."

"Eat."

"No."

"Yes, now eat."

"No, fucking no. Can't you understand that? Or is it not in vampire vocabulary?"

Luke's eyes turned a shade darker almost into a royal blue and my eyes widened. Obviously, there was a fork in the road. I could just listen and possibly save myself from another bite mark or two, or I can continue to be stubborn and hope one of the boys would step in.

"Eat the fucking pizza," I could feel all the others eyes watching and boring into the side of my head telling me to just eat it.

"I'm lactose intolerant," I spit out, lying, but I didn't want to eat the damn pizza. Was that so hard to understand? Am I like Harry Potter? Speaking in a different language without realizing it?

"No you're not," Luke responded, his eyes turning a bit lighter as I studied them carefully, noting every change in comparison to his mood.

"How would you know? You've never asked me have you?"

"I can tell when you're lying, you know," could he though?

"That's great," I said shrugging my shoulders and raising my eyebrows expectantly. I was still trying to ignore the tingles shooting up my arm, but the fact he won't let go of my hand was really not helping the situation.

"Okay, should I just shove it down your throat?" I squinted my eyes at him, he was really causing one hell of a problem.

"Dude, if she doesn't want to eat the pizza, she doesn't have too," Calum's voice broke in. Luke growled. Legitimentally growled. No words, just acted like a fucking bear. From the corner of my eye I could see Calum look down at his plate, probably embarressed from being shut down by Luke.

"Listen, Luke, I don't know who the fuck you think you are telling me what to do, but here in America we have something called freedom of speech and freedom of movement and freedom of indivuality and you are totally violating all of those, so fuck off you dick."

Clapping was what pulled me out of Luke's amazed eyes. I looked over to see the three boys cheering and laughing.

"You just got schooled," Ashton laughed, throwing his head back and squinting his eyes.

"By a girl!" Calum added, slapping his knee. I furrowed my eyebrows at them, confused as to how any of this was funny, but I would figure dead people didn't have a lot of humor around.

"When can I leave?" I blurted after a few more seconds of Ashton's giggles, and all the laughing abruptly stopped. Their eyes were fixed on mine intensely and I couldn't help but drop my gaze to my thighs.

"You can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I own you," Luke replied and I looked up at him, meeting his crystal eyes, absolutely astounded at his answer, still.

"We literally just went over this," I said back, hoping my fake confidence was a little more Oscar-worthy than it felt.

"No, you told me something that isn't true. I own you. That's how the vampire mate laws work," Luke responded, his eyes burning into mine.

I quickly switched my eye-line to the three others, hoping for some way out of this. They seemed nicer than Luke anyways. "Sorry, Fawn, it's true. . ." Ashton's voice trailed off, but I couldn't help but notice the genuine compassion in his eyes and the apologetic tone in his voice.

"I want to leave."

"You can't," Michael said, which threw me off a bit. He hadn't said much, but I expected a comment like that to come from Luke's mouth.

"But I need to see my family, and Belle," I said, getting more desperate to leave this hell hole. I couldn't help but notice Calum's expression at Belle's name, but my mind was still lacking memories and it was quite bothersome.

"Why can't I remember anything from that day? Why was I at the mall?"

"You were with Belle," Luke answered, checking with the other boys through nods that I was okay to withhold this information.

"Where is she now?"

"Britain. . ." Luke mumbled and I caught the gaze between him and Calum.

Why is she in Britain?

College, dammit. I can't believe it. Did I not say goodbye? She's gone. She left California, like I'm supposed too. Like I'm doing now. If their touring, and I need to come, then I'm escaping California. I'm escaping some life I never liked.

As much as I didn't want to be Luke's mate, this situation was perfect. Well, almost perfect. "Can I go outside?" I asked, ask ready standing preparing to walk to the door. I could see we were outside of an arena, so I could wander, couldn't I?

"No."

"Why not?" I asked, fierceness in my voice though I wasn't really wanting to take that approach. I started walking towards the door, not even waiting for Luke's response, but before I could make it I felt some thing on my collarbone.

I yelped at the sudden pain, noticing the blonde quiff of hair in my eye sight. He was fucking biting me. Again.

His head finally came up and I turned in time to see his lips being licked clean of my blood. I was petrified, as well as exasperated, but my mind was slowly drifting out of consciences. "What did you. . ." my mind failed to formulate the rest of my sentence as I fell into Luke's body, him the only thing keeping me up.

"I fucking hate you," was the last thing my voice could make out before blackness once again took over my vision.
