Author's Note:

Hey howdy hey everyone! I wanted to personally apologize for taking so darn long with this. In all honesty, life got busy and I couldn't bring myself to sit and actually type. But I'm working on changing that and trying to upload at least once a week. I'm glad you all like the story so much! I really don't want to let anyone down. This one is a bit longer than usual, but not by too much. Comments, votes, and feedback is very much appreciated! Thank you lots! :D

Chapter 5:

Wake Up Call

"Harry, what is it you're doing up there? I haven't seen you in ages!" My mum's muffled voice somehow made its way into my bedroom followed by a light squealing noise I assumed was Layla. Sighing heavily, I merely looked over towards the door, hoping she was busy with something so she wouldn't come all the way up here and bother me. I slid my finger across my phone, messing around on Instagram, listening as silence fell. Only, just when I thought she had continued about her way the door was opening and Anne was stepping inside with a frown on her face. "If I can recall correctly, I asked you what you were doing up here Harry." She said, her voice stern as she knelt down, picking up one of my shirts that was on the floor and tossing it onto the bed.

I glanced up at her from the screen and shrugged slightly. "Nothing." I said simply.

My mum looked at me, her expression doubtful. "Harry this is the first time I've seen you in a few days." I kept my gaze on the screen, trying not to let her tone get to me. After all, it wasn't like I could object any because it was true. Over the past week or so I made an effort to be away from home as much as possible. I caught up with old friends, went golfing a few times, met up with a few of the boys. Mum set down on the edge of my bed, a frown present on her face. "Why is that? You are aware of the fact that you have a three year old daughter that needs to be fed, and bathed, and clothes and such right?"

I sighed heavily, reaching up and pushing my hand through my hair. Of course I knew that. How could I not? But it didn't mean I wanted to do any of that. "You're home aren't you?" I asked, glancing over at her as I set my phone down on my nose, trying to balance it.

"That isn't the point Harry. She's not my daughter." My mum looked at me, her expression serious. "I mean it. You can't keep running away from this." I looked over at her, my jaw set. I wasn't running.... Was I? I didn't want this. Never asked for it. It was practically shoved at me.

"I didn't even know she existed up until a week ago. If I didn't know, you wouldn't have a problem with it." I countered with my own frown.

"But it has happened and you've got to deal with it." She said sternly before sighing and shaking her head. "I don't know what's wrong with you. This wasn't what you wanted? I know that, but there's nothing you can do about it now. That little girl needs you Harry. I don't even think she's aware of you being her father." Anne shook her head once more as I kept my gaze straight ahead at the wall. "You want your youth? Harry, you can balance them both if you really wanted to. Or are you afraid? Is that it? Because-"

"Mum." I looked at her, my own voice firm as she stopped, looking down at me. "I don't need this."

"You need something Harry." Anne said with a light sigh, her eyes meeting mine in that gaze every mother was capable of. I blinked before shaking my head, getting up from my bed and going over to my closet. I pulled out a bag, setting it on the bed before going around, grabbing clothes and other necessities. "What are you doing?" Her voice was completely calm, not upset, not angry in the least.

I glanced over at her and sighed heavily. "I'm going to the bungalow for the weekend, inviting the boys. That way we can hang out, have some down time." It was a good idea right? I needed to get out, to get away. I needed my brothers. I had to tell them eventually anyway. They would understand...
