Voices

I'm not talking about the ones

That drive people crazy, resulting in shuns

But sweet, melodic voices

Ones that drive you away from tough choices

As beautiful as a summer's breeze

Roses to thorns, locks to keys

As sweet as the finest lollipop

Forged at the most discreet corner of a shop

As melodic as a golden harp

With smooths turns and some purposefully sharp

Your voice makes me want to stay

Forever and ever, never that far away

It makes me want to never leave

But I know I must, as you gently touch my sleeve

For now that I am all grown up

I have to take my horse, and my stirrup

Ride away into the sunset

Your face sad and wet

Because there is only two things a child needs

Roots to grow, as much as young seeds

And here is the other one of the things;

To fly, you need soaring wings

For although I love you, very dearly so

It's time for both you and I to just let go

For although I'm leaving, going somewhere out there,

You actually don't need to despair

For if I leave and do not return,

The guilt inside of me will burn

Like the thousands of embers set on the stove

Made from the finest wood from a grove

I will always come back

You don't need to feel like it is I you lack

Because I am your daughter

Your daughter who, by your love, is slaughter

The daughter who gave you life

The daughter who is now a young wife

Who will always be by your side

Through the rising sun and the highest tide

I will be there, always

Now this is a big story for only voices, says

A big crowd of you

But just remember this story, because it is proved to be true

Not exactly, but the moral is pure

With a loved one's kiss, it can cure

And if your mother always sings you a lullaby

Don't be embarrassed or shy

For, on the outside, it may not last forever

But on the inside, the lullaby and your mother's love, your love,

Leave it will never.
