Jesus Reigns

Society & God

They started out loving, joyful and peaceful,
They were patient, kind and good,
Yes, they were not lacking in faithfulness, humility and self control.

The children loved, honoured and respected their parents and the elderly,
The men were loving and faithful to their wives,
The women were faithful, loving and submissive to their husbands,
They raised their children in godliness and love,
The family unit was safe.

Their systems were just,
And their leaders wise,
They laid the foundations of civilization and built the high society,
Their streets were peaceful and their boarders secure.

Their young were strong, industrious and skillful,
Their old were wise and experienced,
And their children healthy and strong,
Their farms flourished and so did their industries.

Amongst them arose the  greatest of the greatest in art, literature, science, commerce and all other sphere of human life,
They were prosperous and undefeatable!

They were the light of the world,
Shining with the radiance of their maker and Lord,
A moral compass, and an example of good to the nations of the world.

Then little by little, they loosened their grip on the source of it all - their God!

Immorality, filth and indecency found its way into their hearts,
They started worshiping idols and practicing witchcraft,
People became enemies and fought,
They turned jelouse, angry and ambitious,
They separated into parties and groups,
They became envious and drunkards,
They practiced perversion and other filthy habits,
Their hearts were darkened by sin!

Then their children rebelled against their parents and lost respect for the elderly,
The men became hateful and unfaithful to their wives,
The women became unfaithful and rebellious to their husbands,
The family unit started falling apart!

Injustice increased,
The leaders turned cruel, selfish and oppressive,
And the people rebelled against their leaders,
The streets were no longer safe and the boarders became insecure,
The foundations of civilization started falling apart,

The young peole were lost to drugs, alcoholism and crime,
Orphaned children now wander aimless on the streets,
Men sowed the wind and reaped disaster,
They armed themselves against their enemies and destroy their enemies alongside themselves.

They that were once the light of the world have now become the source of darkness,
Their art, literature and science are now used to propagate corruption, perversion, hate and every form of filth.

The light that shone amongst them and through them, has withdrawn from them,
For they rejected its source - their creator and God,
They knew not that their beauty was due to the presence of their maker in and among them!!

But He still stretches out His hand and calls His people back to Himself that He may make them great again.

Hi guys, the purpose of this poem, is to open the eyes of the reader to what is the source of everything that is good in our society - Jesus the Christ. If you are the kind of person who is looking forward to making a difference in the society and the world, then you need to understand that it all begins with God. He is the creator of all there is, and He alone understands the purpose of all things. Seek Him first before launching out to make a difference in the lives others. Change begins with us, in our hearts, then the beauty flows out into the lives of others and our environment.

He loves you and is waiting for you. He wants to make your community great again through you.

This poem was inspired by the writings of the apostle Paul, in the book of Galatians 5:19-23.
