chapter 17: war....sacrifice

both army were standing on edge starring at each other guns ready tanks loaded

both leaders were giving each other cold glares as they both walked up to each other "let the best army win its freedom versus world domination" tord's voice was firm as he held out his hand for the other to agree as edd takes the man in red hand and shakes it before both of them turning and walking into the mix of their soldiers once they were both out of reach of the enemies soldier's and at the end of the wave of soldiers tord lifted up a flare gun as he fires it

when it was fired the wave of green and red attacked each other shooting planes dropping bombs on other soldiers and shooting other planes down tanks taking down other tanks 

tord and tom stood near each other shooting at the soldiers who tried to attack them tom was growing tired as he kept on fighting shooting down soldiers as tord kept the battle going shooting and brutally stabbing soldiers who took tom down

edd was shooting away at enemies nervous about what tom said the other night 

-flash back-

((edd's pov)

edd was sitting at his desk drinking cola as he seemed anxious about the battle that was going to take place tomorrow as he jumps at the ring of his phone and picks it up.

"hello?" he sounded worried "matt?"

"no edd..."  edd sat up straight when he heard tom's voice "i need you to do something" he sounded upset but confident

"what is it tom?" he sounded scared was he going to beg edd to quit the battle and back down? or ask to join their side

"i need you to shoot me when your army is running out of soldiers" edd went dead..

his friend his closest friend since kindergarten wanted edd EDD of all people to shoot him when his army was failing he tears up "tom..i cant am fighting for your freedom" he sounded scared

"edd...the battle will end quicker tord will give up when he realizes am dead and back down" tom sounded scared himself and sobbing "please edd i dont want anyone of you guys dead...this is the only way" edd bit his bottom lip "please edd...it will not only stop the war but ill be free" edd closed his eyes tightly as tears fell on the papers 

"fine...ill do it.."

"thank you edd...you have always been my best friend...ill have a letter for tord also" he sounded sad "i love you bud" 

edd was sobbing by now "i-i love you too best friend you s-stupid pineapple" edd hiccups when tom hung up

-present-

edd was tearing up

he needed to get rid of all the red army he wasnt going to risk loosing tom his closest friend he wasnt gonna loose the man he promised to protect the man who protected him in kinder arten

but little did he know

his soldiers were becoming less and less and the enemy was gaining more and more edd's eyes widened as he looks at eduardo and mark nodding to them to cover him as he ran towards where tom and tord where holding a pistol close

he never wanted to kill tom..

he never wanted this war to come to this 

making sure the pistol was loaded he aimed it at the back of tom's head who was distracted and took time to shoot

-flash back-

edd was five when he met tom.. 

tom was a new kid in school but always hid his face and when the teacher took his hood off everyone of the kids ran away from him calling a creep tom teared up when he realized he needed to play alone but edd walked over to tom "i like your eyes you look like a superhero" edd smiled sweetly

"i-i do?" he hiccups looking up at edd a small smile appearing on his face 

"yea the strongest more stronger than superman" he smiled as they started to play together 

and so went on with their friendship

tom and edd were super glued they were never separated nor got into arguments

they were close and happy

it was thanks to tom that edd found matt 

or edd would be alone right now without a kid

it was tom who beated up his ex boyfriend who abused him

it was tom who did everything 

and yet edd never could return the favor

tom always said 

"am fine edd" and gave the kindest smile

-present-

(tord's pov) 

tord kept on fighting when he stopped dead hearing a gunshot and seeing tom fall on the ground bleeding from the back of his head 

tord teared up as he dropped his gun seeing his lover like this paul saw this and quickly shot the green flare to show everyone to stop and everything did stop

tord fell on his knees tears flowing down his good eye as he picked up tom's limp body "no no no..." he held tom close "wake the fuck up tom" he shook the limp body "WAKE UP DAMMIT WAKE UP" he was breathing heavily his heart shattering  to a million pieces as he stared at his lover "tom..." he sobs softly "am so sorry..." he hugged the body close "its all my fault.." the tears fell onto tom's body as he remembered what tom said long ago

-flashback-

"tord?" tom sounded curious as he looked up at the stars his head rested on tord's shoulder they were 20 years old 

"yes my love?" tord looked at tom his eyes soft

"can you keep me a promise?"

"ill try.."

"sing to me...when i die" tom sounded serious

"i...i promise" tord sounded scared

-present-

tord took a deep breath as the soldiers around him starred in shock of seeing their enemy and leader in tears as he brushed tom's hair out of his face "The other night dear, as I lay sleeping I dreamed I held you in my arms But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken So I hung my head and I cried" he began singing softly through tears and sobs as his voice softened "you are my sunshine...my only sunshine...you keep me happy...when skies are gray..you'll never know dear how much i love you...so please dont take my sunshine..away" he couldnt finish the song but broke into tears holding his lover close "i wish i can say how much i love you thomas" he closed his eye standing up still holding tom starring at everyone "i can no longer rule this army...am sorry" he looks at edd who was crying "edd....i need to bring him home" 

edd nodded "y-yea" he sobs a tiny bit
