Hey you guys! I'm soo soo soo sorry I haven't updated in a while. It's been really busy and with a writers block, writing this chapter got put on the back burner. I was at Creation Festival this past June 25-July 1 so being that I was camping it ment I had no computer to write or update from. Then this past week I've been getting ready for the mission trip I'm going on this Monday. But, hey I'm here now. Please enjoy and let me know how you like the new characters...

Chapter Nine: Shadows

“’Prepare for battle against her! Arise, let us attack at noon! But, alas, the daylight is fading, and the shadows of evening grow long.” -Jeremiah 6:4

“Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.” Psalms 63:7

“These are the shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” –Colossians 2:17

“To shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” –Luke 1:79

Arabella’s P.O.V.

The week seemed to have past slowly, as she stayed at Zoe’s house. Afraid of what she’s come home too; she knew the longer she waited the worse it’d be, but she just couldn’t will herself to go home. Nor would Zoe allow her. Not after what Steven did at school.

Although she did try to go back home Tuesday saying she needed fresh clothes, and even though Zoe said she could just wear some of her clothes, Arabella still didn’t want to be a hassle. Or bring Zoe into her mess.

Waiting for Zoe to come out of her bathroom, Arabella sat over by the window looking out at the forest that stood on the right side of the house. Leafs rustled in wind, some falling to the ground forming a thin layer of leafs on the moist ground, while the others continued to slightly change color as the sun began to rise higher in the sky.

She felt a hand tap her right shoulder, making her jump in surprise. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Zoe said looking down at her with apologetic eyes. “It’s ok,” She told Zoe with a slight smile.

“Are you ready to go?” Zoe asked as she picked up backpack.

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” She said standing up. Steven had been watching her all week from afar, but if Zoe hadn’t stayed with her where ever she went she was sure he would have repeated the scene from Monday afternoon in some kind of fashion. She was thankful for all the Zoe was doing for her; she didn’t really know who else she could really turn to for help.

When they arrived at school the warning bell rang, “I guess we left a bit late today…” Zoe said laughing as they walked to their first block class. “Yeah, I guess we did.” Arabella agreed with a nervous laugh, she had spotted Steven on the other side of the hall. He was standing against the wall with a few of his friends staring at her with disgust.

Zoe must have seen him too because she lightly put her hand on Arabella’s upper arm in a soothing way. “He won’t hurt you, you know that right?” Zoe told her, pausing to look at her clear in the eyes. Making sure she was paying attention, “I won’t let him.” She added at the end with a cold tone.

Nodding her head Arabella began to feel safe again. This whole week Arabella felt like someone was always watching her. She wasn’t exactly sure who it was, but she got this troubled feeling every time she was alone even if it was just for a minute. Afraid something terrible was going to occur.
