Chapter Two

"Shawnee dear," Shane whispered. "Wake up, come on."

I opened my eyes and looked up at him sleepily. He smiled, watching me as I slowly woke up. He laughed.

"What?" I murmured. "I'm tired."

"I see that, but we're about to land, and we have to catch our connection flight.," he murmured, putting me in an up--right position, and clicking my seat--belt into place.

"You could have done that without waking me," I mumbled, leaning my head back. He just smiled at me.

"I tried," was all he said. I rolled my eyes and and we were soon walking to our connection flight. I plopped down beside him, and buckled up. "You can go back to sleep when we're in the air, love," he murmured, taking my hand in his.

I sighed and closed my eyes, thinking-- 'Shane and I are going to be together forever, and that is never going to change.' A few minutes later, a man about my age stopped by Shane.

"Is that seat taken?" he asked, gesturing to the window seat.

"No," Shane said, giving him a smile. "You can have it."

I opened my eyes slightly and watched as the boy wound his way past Shane and I to sit at my other side.

"Thank you," he said, smiling over at us. "I'm James," he said.

"Shawnee," I murmured.

"Shane," he said. We silently shook hands, when we were safely in the air, I unbuckled and lifted the armrest. I cuddled up to Shane and promptly fell asleep.

"Shawnee, wake up, we're almost ready to land," Shane whispered, gently shaking me. I sat up and buckled my seat--belt. "I love you," he whispered in my ear.

I smiled and looked over at him. "I love you too Shane," I replied.

He kissed my forehead. I giggled softly, I put my head on Shane's shoulder and closed my eyes, enjoying his presence next to me.

"Happy to be coming home?" he asked.

"Yeah, I missed it," I whispered.

"I could tell, that's why I decided to come on down and pop up at your hotel and see you," he murmured.

"How did you get into my hotel room?" I asked, looking up at his face.

He coughed slightly. "You have a bad habit of leaving your door unlocked," he said, ginning.

"Uh--huh," I said as we began our decent. I gripped his hand tighter, and squeezed my eyes shut.

"Shh," he murmured. "it's okay." He squeezed my hand to let me know he was there for me, I looked at him.

When we got off the plane, I practically dragged him inside. We got our things and walked towards the doors leading to the parking lot, then I saw my parents and my sister, I let go of Shane's hand and ran towards them.

"Mom! Dad! Vanessa!" I called, throwing my arms around them.

"Shawnee, how was your trip?" father asked.

"Dull, boring, then Shane showed up," I said. "I'm so happy to be home," I sighed.

I heard a breathless laugh behind me, and I turned to see Shane.
