Pushing Luck

Always isolated and kept apart
The royals and peasants alike
Banished me to solitude
Living in a rickety little shack
Perched on the edge of the world

They say I bring misfortune
That I wreak havoc everywhere I roam
So now my misfortune only rains on me

And the few organisms that've survived my presence

And as I sit in my little house
At the edge of the world
Listening to the wind whip through the cracks in the walls
The sound of rain pounding on the tin roof
I look out the window
At the angry waves

A light in the distance
Growing ever closer... closer
Until the ship reaches the shore

They call me Unlucky
But perhaps that was the day

That all the bad luck would turn around
