Chapter 26: Brave

Matt’s POV

 

My 24th birthday is supposed to be celebrated in Italy, where my aunt and uncle reside because I haven’t seen them for almost three years now.

The celebration is already well-planned since last year but everything is all different now...

Now, that I have Sarah.

And I know, more than anybody else, that her parents will not approve on me bringing her there...  maybe, not this time.

And it will not be a birthday celebration without her.

I couldn’t and wouldn’t... that’s for sure.

So, in accordance with my wish, we decided to celebrate my birthday party at Tipsy Pig instead.

Tipsy pig is a restaurant/bar conceptualized by one of our dear friend Ton Gonzales and their master cook, a family friend, Chef Rainier Barbers.

The planning for the birthday party is being handled by my Mom and the ever supportive Tita Virgie of Swatch Phils, one of my endorsement eversince.

All my friends are coming – from car racing, triathlon, and childhood friends from Cebu; showbiz friends in the likes of Lloydie, Christian and many more. The Guidicelli family will also coming straight from Italy, my sister Georgia will be coming from the states after 2 years of being away from home.

Everything is all set except for her parent’s approval.

Sarah’s POV

 

8 days before his birthday celebration and almost a week na pagpapaliwanagan pero ayaw pa ring pumayag nila Mommy at Daddy.

Hindi raw nila maintindihan bakit kailangan ganoong kagabi (party nga, ‘di ba?!) and we have to be honest with them na may kaunting inuman dun sa party, na lalong nagpaayaw sa kanila.

At halos ilang araw na rin kaming nagtatalo ni Matt. Katulad ngayon habang nandito kami sa kanila at pinag-uusapan na naman ang bagay na yun.

Sarah: Love, uy... (untag ko dito).

 

Nakatakip ang braso nito sa mata niya habang nakahiga siya sa outdoor sofa nila.

Halatang badtrip na badtrip ito at pinipigilan lamang ang kanyang sarili.

Habang ako naman ay nakaupo sa tapat ng sofa kung saan siya nakahiga.

Matt: I don’t know, Love... I don’t know...

Sarah: Mag-usap nga tayo ng maayos... Uy...

Matt: Love, you’re already 25.

 It’s my birthday and it’s not as if we’ll do something there! It’s a party, andaming bisita... I don’t get their point!

Sarah: Yeah, I know... but these are all new to them. Let’s just understand them, ‘wag natin silang biglain, unti-unti lang.
