                                             Chapter 16

The rest of the day went by normally - or as closed to it as possible. Before leaving my room, I donned a long sleeve shirt in order to cover up the bandage that was still in my arm.  I didn’t want to deal with the round of questioning it would entice from my parents.  Hiding it seemed like the only logical solution, besides, like I told Grey, I didn’t want to worry my parents for no reason, they had enough on their plate as it was.  I didn’t want to add to their troubles with some stupid stunt-gone-wrong that a hateful person created just to mess with me.

After I was dressed, I walked down stairs and found my mother dusting off some family pictures in the living room. On Sundays, most families are in church, but my parents have never been major church goers, though they had turned to God during the time of the accident, but now, things had switched back to the way they were before.  Switched to us just hanging around the house and catching up on chores and things of that nature.

“Oh honey, there you are.” My mom said as she spotted me standing by the threshold of the living room. “How was last night? I didn’t hear you come in.  Did you have fun?” self consciously,  I tugged on the sleeve of my right arm, as if my mom would see through the fabric of the shirt and spot the bandage hiding there. I cleared my throat and mentally prepared my answer to her.  It had to be clear and précised.

“Last night was very good. I had a great time with Mina."  I said keeping my voice even. “The party was lots of fun.”

“That’s wonderful, I’m glad you had a great time.” She said, she must have believed me because she turn back to her task.  In truth, last night in a lot of ways had been great, putting aside getting drugged by Kailah and almost getting hit by car, last night was wonderful.  I idly helped my mom clean up the house, I figured that would help pass the time and prevent her for asking too much questions.  It wasn’t until a few hours later that I realized I hadn’t seen my dad at all today.  I peeked out the window and saw that his car was gone.  “Mom?” I called her as I walked in the kitchen where she was cooking something.  She looked up and waited, expectantly.

     “Where is dad?” I asked.

“Oh, he went to play golf with some colleagues.  He said he’d be back later in the afternoon I think.” That was odd, I never knew my dad was any good at golf.  And he normally never left anywhere on Sundays, he always stayed right here. "Since when does dad play Golf?"

"He does't, but poeple from work conviced him otherwise."

I nodded in understanding, I tried not to think about it much, it just meant that I didn’t have to deal with him also, knowing him he would want to know every detail that happened last night.

I moved from the kitchen and left my mom to her doing.  The rest of the afternoon moved painfully slow.  My dad arrived home a little past four, I was watching T.V. and texting Mina.  He greeted me and asked how things went last night.  I carefully composed my answer, making sure that it sounded believable so as to leave no suspicion.  When I told him pretty much the same thing I told my mom, he surprised me by not asking anymore questions and  just saying how glad he was it all went well and then retreated to his room.  It was odd of him , I was almost one-hundred percent sure he would want to know everything, but he hadn’t.  I accredit it to being tired of being out in the sun all day.  As he walked by  the kitchen my mom greeted him and asked him if he wanted dinner, but he declined, rattling something about eating with the guys.
