Chapter Five

May 12th . 13:25 . Payne Residence .

"DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEA where the bloody boy is?!" I shrieked, pacing around my living room. It was another day gone by. Another day without Liam.

I refused to have a funeral. I disconnects myself from the entire Payne family. They thought I was mourning by myself.

Wrong.

I wasn't mourning over someone who wasn't dead. I denied all of Major Tomlinson's requests for a therapist for me the only person I talked to about Liam was Lieutenant Horan. He knew Liam well. Only with him would I pull out any pictures I had of him. I'd call his old phone just to hear his voice. That always have me strength. It made me believe that he really was okay.

He would call back later.

I could not remember which day it was, but Horan was at my home. I genuinely saw him as a trusted friend now. I never really trusted anyone.

"Niall," I called, lowering my volume on the telly. "Do you trust me?"

"'Course."

"Did I ever tell you why Liam was so eager to marry me?"

He thought hard about it, then finally answered. "No. No, you didn't. Why did he?"

"He was trying to protect me."

"F-From what?"

I paused. "My past. By having a new last name, it protected me from my past." I sighed. "Niall, I'm a spy and I plan on leaving as soon as my partner checks in with me."

I stared straight on, looking at Horan to see any emotion on his face.

There was none.

He was almost as emotionless as Malik.

"Niall, I need your help. I believe Liam's alive, Niall. You were there when he was supposedly shot. I need you to show me where."

Niall looked up at me before pulling me into a huge hug. I almost choked out of shock, the sudden contact scaring me. I slowly hugged back, rested my head on his broad shoulders. I started to imagine that it was Liam, but I knew I would burst into tears.

"Good. It's not just me who thinks that." Niall sighs.

I immediately pushed him out of our hug, eyes wide at him. "Y-You thought so-" I felt tears stinging at my eyes. "You do?!"

He nodded again and I quickly pulled him into another warm embrace. "Yes," he laughed. "I thought I was the only one."

"So are you in?"

"I'm in."
