CHAPTER 2

J"Ano na ba yung kwento?" I asked Aubrey. Nakita ko silang nagtinginan ni MC and I felt a shiver of unease slide down my spine.

Ganito yung itsura nilang dalawa when they know something that I don't.

"Err..." Nagtinginan nanaman sila.

"Let's go. Sa stadium na lang namin sasabihin. Let's reserve seats for us muna," MC said. I wanted to ask more but Aubrey grabbed my hand and dragged me away from my car. My two friends kept shooting each other glances while we walked in silence to our class. Lalo tuloy akong kinakabahan.

Once we were seated at hindi pa din sila nagsasalita, my patience snapped.

"Ano ba yun, guys? Spit it out!" I hissed.

Nagtinginan nanaman sila. Kakairita na ah. Audrey grabbed MC's hand. "Which one do you want first? Positive or negative?"

I'm an optimistic person so I wanted to save the positive news for last. Whatever the negative news will be, the positive will make it hurt less. Somewhat. Depende na din on how grave the negative news is.

"Negative muna. Shoot."

MC took a deep breath. "Ganito kasi 'yon. Uhm... Kahapon... Di ba lumabas kami with Mike's football team? We went to Tides. Sabi nila reserved ung venue for the team. But other girls were there too."

Bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko. I think I know where this is heading.

"Valerie was there, Drei," Aubrey whispered.

Suddenly, it became hard to breathe. It was as if all the air was sucked out of the room. Valerie was the girl being linked to my boyfriend.

Still, I tried to be brave. No use hyperventilating hanggang hindi ko pa naririnig ang buong kwento.

"Tapos?"

"We saw her dancing with Mike. The whole night," MC said.

Aubrey grabbed my hand and squeezed. "Tapos?" I asked again. "They looked... intimate. They were also partners when we did body shots."

"Instead of doing normal shots sa arm or sa shoulder like prudent people do, she placed the salt for the tequila sa may cleavage niya. Ang malanding bruha!" MC hissed.

"And Mike did it. He went for that body shot when other guys wouldn't. Also, the two of them disappeared even before the party ended. Mike's excuse was that Valerie was already drunk at siya na lang ang maghahatid. But this morning, sabay silang dumating sa school," Aubrey whispered.

Just like that, my world came crashing down. Nagdilim na ang paningin ko and I felt like I was suffocating. Tears filled my eyes. MC grabbed my other hand and squeezed. They knew I was really close to having a panic attack.

"Breathe, Andreia. We're here." I lifted my head and looked at Aubrey. Her eyes were also filled with tears. Because of that, lalo lang akong naiyak.

"Pero bakit kanina­­–" Hindi ko matapos 'yong gusto kong sabihin dahil sa pag-iyak.

"Sorry, Drei. Kinailangan naming magkunwari na hindi naming alam. Ang sama ng tingin samin ni Mike kaninang umaga pa lang. Alam niyang nakita naming 'yong ginawa niya."
