I took a deep breath and slowly turned the door knob, my heart racing.

"Alina." Dustin acknowledged, tousling his hair. The sunlight was really bright in the room he was staying at. Perhaps because of the plain white wallpaper that surrounded it.

I stood there, instantly forgetting why I was there. All my imagining how this conversation would go, flushed down the drain. He frowned, and I melted because he might not have wanted to see me. I shouldn't have done this. I should retreat now.

I turned around, heading for the door. Why was I so stupid?

"Going already?" Dustin asked quietly, an amused but friendly grin on his face.

"Um yeah I didn't know what I was thinking." I stuttered, running a hand through my hair - my signature nervous action.

"Oh come on, stay. Tell me what was on your mind."

I swirled around, getting annoyed at myself for looking like I knew he was going to invite me. I couldn't stop swearing at myself for all the dumb things I was doing. But I also couldn't help smiling at how cute and gorgeous he was. I couldn't. The feels they'd say.

So I started cursing at myself again for even thinking that.

I walked slowly to his unoccupied and messy bed, removing my shoes and sitting cross legged while Dustin sat across me on his desk chair.

"Who said you could kick your shoes off and stay on my bed?" He suddenly said all seriously.

My face burned and I was absolutely mortified.

"U-uh sorry I'll just go put on my shoes no-" I said immediately reaching for my shoes before getting cut off.

"Aww I was kidding. You're adorable when you look like a lost puppy." Dustin teased and I burried my head in my hands.

"I hate you." I sighed.

"Anyways, what were you tellng me?" He questioned, spinning around his chair, his legs spread apart.

Why the hell did you just think that, Alina?

"Oh right, so since no one is probably telling you anything, I decided to fill you in on what happened today." I piped up, getting back on track.

Dustin nodded so I began informing him on everything that happened today. From the gossip, to Trina - everything.

"Yeah so Trina basically thinks you're cute and she wants to get to you, I think. Don't tell her I said anything!"

"Oh really now?" He smirked.

"Yes! She's attracted to guys with money. Oh but don't worry. I know a lot of people friend you for your looks and money but not me. I mean you're cute but I'm not like tha- Oh shit. Did I just... fuck." I cried, seriously killing myself for admitting I thought he was cute. Even though Dustin said I was earlier, guys are more expressive. And a girl confessing that? That just looks needy and seductive.

Dustin raised his eyebrows, a smile and laughter ready to burst. His smile was so gorgeous. It was like one of those movie scenes where everything was in slow motion. The sunlight was on his face. Literally everything was perfect.

When did I get so cliche?

"Oh Alina, no worries. It's all good."

"Kill me." I deadpanned, shoving my self under some of his pillows and getting under his bed covers.

"Anyways, thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone what you said." Dustin said.

"Oh this is really comfy." I commented under his bed sheets. "And yeah no problem."

I almost fell asleep because of today's extremely tiring practice, but then my blanket got yanked away from me.

"WHAT THE HECK? CAN YOU NOT PLEASE I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT. IT'S LIKE STRIPPING AWAY YOUR VIRGINITY!" I said angered. And then Dustin howled with laughter again.

"Okay, anyways I'm out." I pointed out, grabbing my shoes and heading for the door. As I was exiting, Dustin called out, "Don't worry, I think you're cute too!"

I couldn't stop smiling the whole day.

"Alina, wait up!" I couldn't recognize the voice but I hoped it was Dustin.

Wrong. Ashton. My old crush.

"Oh hey... Ashton." I acknowledged awkwardly. His dark hair and model looks would've made me swoon. But not now. Not anymore.

"What's up? You've improved a lot!" Ashton complimented, his dimples showing. I missed him. I missed liking him. But I knew there was no point. Because even when he found out, he told me he'd never be interested. Not just with me, but everybody. It was a lost cause.

"In what?" I said stupidly.

"Cooking. No of course, soccer!" Ashton pushed me playfully.

"Oh sorry haha thanks." I offered a friendly grin. We were not so comfortably walking to the cafeteria. I pretended as if the blue and yellow school banners in the hallway were the most interesting thing in the world.

Later that day, when I was alone in my guest room, Dustin came in and asked, "Alina, can we talk?"
