Kara's back was cold.

It was strange.

He didn't appear to look sick, or anything.

I pressed my ear on his back, trying to get a better look at his temperature.

"Hm? What are you doing?"

"A-Ah. N-Nothing."

Kara chuckled.

"Do you want to hear my heartbeat? If you wanted to, you could've said so."

I shook my head.

"N-No! Really! I was just..."

"You were?"

"Mhm."

Kara turned back.

"You're so cute, Akira. I could just eat you up."

Kara's voice lowered towards the last bits of his sentence. Strange.

"D-Don't joke like that."

I stuttered.

"Oh? But I wasn't joking."

My eyes widened.

"H..Huh--"

"Kidding! Kidding, can't you take a joke?"

Kara started laughing out loud.

My fists were shaking.

Slowly, my chest leaned away from his back.

"Then.. Kara.. why are you smiling like that?"

There was a short moment of silence.

Even our surroundings, the wind, the animals, kept quiet.

"Ehh. How did you know I was smiling?"

His voice changed completely.

Like a gay old man's voice.

"Urk..!!"

He dropped me, my bottom hitting on the hard ground.

I felt a sharp pain zap through my body.

It hurts!

"You surely had an eye for things, Akira. You stood out so much."

Kara was standing in front of me, his shadow fully covering me.

But I could still see his eyes, wide open; Staring down at me.
