The next day I woke up with a fever. I didn't regret going out in the rain because I finally let everything out.

I got out of bed and wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and walked to the kitchen.

That was when I noticed my parents sitting down at the kitchen table, drinking coffee.

They didn't even pick their heads up when I walked in, which didn't surprise me.

"You look terrible," my mother commented.

I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I know," I replied in a dry tone.

She sighed and turned to finally look at me.

"Me and your father are going on another business trip, so don't wait on us tomorrow," she said and with that, they both left the room.

"I never do," I whispered.

I sometimes wondered what it was like to have your parents at home all the time. I mean, is it that hard for my parents to at least spend some time with me?

I always see parents spending time with their own children, laughing and having fun, and then there was me. All alone, without parents who are always away on business trips.

Would it kill them to at least tell me they love me?
