Something happened

Something happened that day,

I'll admit it, I won't lie,

And I'm reminiscing on it today.

Something happened that day,

His chocolate complexion,

Just a shade or two darker than mine,

Indentations on either of his cheeks,

Lips stained blood red,

Made me want to sin,

His mega watt smile lunged at me,

And it .... it ensnared me,

Held me hostage.

From my belly,

It commenced,

It made me queasy,

Made me nauseous,

Made me feel as if butterflies,

Existed in my stomach.

Elegant butterflies,

Fluttering in my stomach,

The tip of their wings,

Lightly caressing my organs,

And created a feeling,

A warm feeling,

One that made my heart smile.

Something happened that day,

I never believed in love at first sight,

But in that moment,

I was attracted.

My heart took flight,

Fought my brain,

Broke down the barriers,

My brain had meticulously,

Arranged for protection.

My poor heart,

Vulnerable and naive,

Rebelled against,

All the warnings and precautions,

Went skipping and giggling,

Entranced by the words that leaked from his lips.

They were waging war,

My brain and heart.

My brain,

The commander of my body,

Argued against the feelings,

But the heart,

Very persuasive,

Convinced him,

That having a crush is painless.

The brain,

In its gullible state,

Caved in,

Fell into her trap,

And believed her.

And something happened.
