A/N: Hello everyone! I am so sorry for making you all wait an eternity for this update. I promise to do better next time :) Thanks for sticking by me.

Recap:

Valerie comes to the party with Luciano after their extravagant date. She kisses him and thinks that Christian's father, David saw her. Meanwhile, Christian is talking to Jon about Valerie and he tells Jon that all he feels for Valerie is hate. Valerie goes inside and finds Christian, who is angry at her as usual for her late arrival. Then later, Valerie finds David who asks her how much Christian is paying her to pose as his girlfriend. As Valerie is walking outside, Jon sneaks up on her and talks to her about his plans. He mentions that he needs to destroy all obstacles, and Valerie is an obstacle. He pushes her into the ocean and Valerie cannot swim. She goes unconscious.

Valerie is gone into a coma and she has vivid dreams that reveal some of her agonizing past. She is awoken by Becky, who Christian contacted. And she is visited by Christian as well, who gives her a yellow rose and a letter. He asks her if she wishes to reisign but she says no, because she has to think of her sister Kirsten and her operation which will cost a fortune. Christian seems worried about Valerie, leaving her to question if Christian was the one who saved her from drowning.

Chapter 17

I Promise

Dear Valerie,

First of all, I would like to apologize. If you had told me that you weren’t feeling well, then I would never have forced you to come to the event. I found out about what happened, through Jon. He’s the one who jumped in the water to save you. He told me that he was standing near his car, when he saw you pass out and fall.

I rushed out as soon as I could when I heard the sirens from the ambulance. I was thankful that Jon knew CPR, because that’s what kept you alive till the ambulance arrived.

I tried a lot to find your family so that I could inform them about you, but I had no luck. I did, however, find your friend, Becky and arranged for her to come meet you. I hope she’s arrived by the time you’ve read this letter. I wish that you get well soon and I understand if you would like to resign after getting well.

Truthfully, I haven’t forgotten the incident that took place three years ago, and I don’t think I can ever forget it. However, I am willing to move on and keep our relationship strictly professional. I will come back later to put that yellow rose in a cup of water, or else it will soon wither. Let’s start over.

Sincerely,

Christian Reyes

I folded the letter back up into thirds and neatly tucked it away in the envelope. Well, that was definitely not what I was expecting. I glanced over to the yellow rose which Christian had put into a cup of water, as he promised in the letter. I remember reading somewhere that yellow roses signify friendship. I wonder if he actually meant what he said, about us starting over with a clean slate, but I knew that people say things they don't mean sometimes, simply out of sympathy.
