It’s summer break and I’m about to go visit my grandparents in Canada for a week. Ugh, I hate packing so bad. I start to pack my bag with rompers, dresses, and sweatpants; quite the variation there, huh? Once I pack everything and get everything together, I go and tell my mom that I’m ready to go. She nods and tells me, “Okay, let me just go check to see if I left anything and we will be on our way to the airport!” I sit down on the couch and check my purse to make sure I had my makeup, earphones, and wallet. I had all three. My mom comes downstairs and I run to the car and plug my phone into the USB port that connects with the radio. She asks me, “Why the hurry Emily? No matter what we’re going to get to Toronto at the same time!” She laughs. I say, “Because Shawn just texted me, and reminded me that we haven’t seen each other in 2 years!” My mom rolls her eyes. I get so excited. Shawn was one of my best friends since I was little because he always lived next door to my grandparents. We grew really close in 5th grade, and we have been inseparable since then.
On our way to the airport, I play Shawn’s covers because he uploaded a new one and my mom wanted to hear it. He was singing Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran. He sounded so good! I dozed off and fell asleep. Once we got to the airport, we checked what time our plane would get here. The sign read “Southwest Flight 824 from Phoenix to Toronto will be 30 minutes early to depart at 2:10 to arrive at 9:10 (Toronto time).” I looked at the time on my phone, 1:45. We rushed to get through security and rushed to our gate, we made it just in time to board. I hated planes so much, they gave me anxiety because of plane crashes. I started shaking and texted Shawn.
E: were about to board, we should make it to the house at 9:45 if all works out okay. I hate planes! See you then! (:
S: youll make it here just fine I promise! See you then!! I miss you so much!! *smile emoji*
E: thanks, I hope I do, and I miss you too. Its been so long! Well I have to turn my phone on airplane mode for the flight! Love ya! *smile emoji*
I turned my phone on airplane mode. I walked to my seat and sat down next to my mom, she gave me the window seat. She noticed I was freaking out so she rubbed my back and told me that the flight would be fine and told me to try to sleep, so I put my earphones in and put my phone on shuffle ((I literally put my phone on shuffle and this came on lol))and Midnight Memories by One Direction played and I put my head on the window and fell asleep before the flight attendant started talking… I woke up to a jolting bump on the ground, and I woke up and screamed because I was so terrified. Everyone in the plane looks over at me and I pretended I was still sleeping. My mom whispered in my ear, “Honey, going back to sleep won’t work because we just landed. That’s probably what scared you!” She did a little giggle and sat back up and took out her phone. Once the plane got to a complete stop I turned my phone back on normal mode, and I had 3 texts. One from Shawn, and two from my grandma. The ones from my grandma said, “text me when you get here!” and “I love you guys!”. I reply and say that our flight just landed and that I love her too. I check the one from Shawn, “love ya too!” We start heading over to the baggage claim, and we notice that all of the luggage will be late because of issues with transporting. So I wait and wait until finally the luggage claim starts to work.
