Chapter Fifteen

I lost track of how long I stood around waiting for Stanton.

I was beginning to lose hope, and having Julius in this cell with me was driving me insane! I had no idea how Raven could put up with him for so long. All he did was pace like a panther trapped in a cage. He'd hiss and slap at things that weren't there, then try and make casual conversation about Raven. I would just spit the word "Titan" at him and he'd go into a meltdown and perk right back up afterwords, and honestly? His meltdowns were just as bad as him somewhat sane.

"Does Raven still sleep often? He slept a lot back home." Julius offered at some point, making me twitch and shoot him a dirty look.

"I'm not talking to you about my brother, you sick fuck. Find a hobby. You're dead. Fantasize about Lindsey Lohan."

"I do not know who that is."

"Ugh," I rolled my eyes and looked away, leaning on the cell wall with one hand before rubbing my face, "I don't know either... I just feel like she's weird. Look, can you just buzz off? I'm trying to contact Death." Julius arched a brow at me, as if I were the one who was insane. But he was the one babbling incoherently whenever I mentioned the Titans, or babbling about Raven. The guy was like a broken record and some of the things he said about my brother made me want to kill him all over again. He already had a broken nose, two broken fingers, and severe burns from colliding with the bars of the cell, which were made with the very flames of the Phlegethon river.

"Surely he doesn't give two shits about you." Julius said after a moment. I shot him a deadly glare, but the guy didn't catch a hint because he was looking at me expectantly.

"He does." I told him tightly, looking away again, but my heart wasn't so sure anymore. I had lost track of how long we'd been here. It felt like hours, maybe almost a day, but Julius had said the time frame here was different from the time frame out there. This was just so confusing.

Stanton! Please!

I had no idea how to get out of here. The guards only prowled around the inmates that were the rowdiest and most dangerous. Apparently, Julius was considered a small fry around here since no one went anywhere near his cell. Occasionally, the guy across from us would spit at our cell and randomly flip his shit about dwarves crawling out of invisible sewer gates before he pissed himself and the guards came to beat him senseless.

"Jeez, why are they so cruel?" I had hissed when I'd first seen the guards jump him. Julius had come up behind me like a creepy comic book villain and laughed, almost scaring me right out of my skin.

"That, little hellion, is Baracus Majorus. He traveled with the Mongols and slaughtered several hundred families, raped enough women that 1 in every one hundred women is bound to be related to him, and used the heads of children to decorate his home." After he told me, I stopped feeling sorry for the rotten bastard and returned to calling out to Stanton. I'd even taken to calling out his name aloud, but still nothing.

"You ought to give up," Julius sighed from the back of the cell, making me turn to glare at him as he sat with his back to the wall while he rubbed at his bloody greasy hair before casting me a weary smirk, "There's no way out of Tartarus. Not unless we were special."

"Like the Titans?" I asked dryly. Julius twitched and flung his head back so hard into the wall that it knocked him unconscious, causing blood to splatter against the wall, signalling that his skull had split open. I rolled my eyes, looking away. He couldn't die. He'd wake up in a few minutes. At least I'd get some kind of peace. I closed my eyes when I heard the voice of heaven.
