There are only five points in my life that I wish I could have taken back. Every other event in my life was merely a reaction to the action in front of me. Something that was unavoidable.

My first regret is tied to my last, and only because if I hadn't done the first, then the last one would have never happened.

My first regret was leaving home.

The second was not realizing how much I would have to change myself in order to adapt to the new environment.

The third was paying no mind to the ever-growing count of bodies I left in order to fill an insatiable hunger in me brought by my new adaptation.

The fourth was believing I was immune to anything this new world had in its grasp.

The fifth was laying eyes on her.

Which brought me back to the first because if I had never left home then I would have never crossed paths with Mykela Debrouhs.

A woman who held a heart of gold, a strength of steel and a will that gave her the power to do what no one had ever seen before.

But most importantly, a power, that saved her from me but tied me to her.

My family, like undoubtedly all others, had always told me I would be special. So I guess it wasn't much of a surprise to them when it turned out I truly was.

It was a peculiar gift, a strong and dangerous one, but peculiar none the less. It led to many conflicts with the people around me, a lot of threats and agreements as to how I would use my gift. I was a weapon to one and a threat to another.

I personally did not see much to myself, if anything, I thought of myself as a helper. If my gift was a threat, then I would use it solely on those who gave threats. I knew that I could not rid the world of evil, but I knew I could help balance it out.

It might have been that innocent thinking, my good-will and home-born need to help others, to trust those who guided me that blinded me to the fate I was being pushed into by those who I had come to know as family and friends. Where threats appeared, I followed. Where they hid, I found.

That man was perhaps the biggest threat I had ever faced and it wasn't because he was so much more violent to those around him or because he was so much more then I could have imagined any predator being. No. He was the biggest threat of all because while I had gone ready to protect everyone else from him, I had never imagined I would have had to protect myself, most of all.

Or that in doing so, it would link us in a way that I wouldn't have the chance to undo because my first encounter with him, would be my last.

Unfortunately for me, my last life would also be the beginning of many new ones.

In a world unknown to some and a time that both existed before and around humans, creatures walk the streets of Londream. A red sun glowed above the walkers with all purposes of gloom as the graying clouds floated anywhere but near it, almost as if purposefully avoiding it. The sky, a pale blue of the day, would slowly turn its self into its favorite shade of pale green later on when the clouds could no longer hide from the sun.

As ever of that day, the bustling streets were filled with beautiful carriages of all shades and colors, creatures and humans roamed with their very best garbs to show their class status and world rank. Children scurried along, some shrieking as they chased others and those others quietly hiding as they ran from the chase. Shop owners and small stand sellers called out in cheery tones, shouting to the tops of their lungs the days best prices and merchandise, throwing out swaying promises to ears that were reluctant to listen to such sweet words.
