Courting Kate: The First Night

“I get so breathless, when you call my name,

I've often wondered, do you feel the same?

There's a chemistry, energy, a synchronicity

When we're all alone,

So don't tell me

You can't see

What I'm thinking of.” –Breathless, Corinne Bailey Ray

Before long, Kate and Giancarlo arrived back at their house. He dropped a soft kiss on her mouth when they reach the foot of the stairs and started to pull her up towards their room.

Kate shivered, not from cold but excitement. They were really going to do it after months of not being together. Though this felt like we are doing it for the first time, she thought to herself. With her memory of their intimacy gone, Kate was certainly as she was all those years ago when they consummated their relationship.

Wait— Kate stopped in her tracks as she replayed that thought in her mind. Oh yes, she remember being very nervous. Images started to flicker in her head. Her eyes dilated as she got lost in her thoughts.

A knock sounded and Kate moved to open the door of her flat. She was surprised to find Giancarlo standing there with a bouquet of pink and red roses.

“Giancarlo!”

He grinned. “You look surprised, cara. Why? Were you waiting for someone else?” he teased.

“Of course not,” she replied. “It’s just that you said you have to stay at least a week in Rome to settle some things in your office.”

He moved in and put his arms around her waist. “Well… I couldn’t stay away.”

Kate’s heart started to pound inside her chest. She looked up into his eyes and saw desire and something else that she couldn’t quite name. “Is that your way of telling me you missed me?”

His lips descended on her neck and made its way  towards her own mouth. “Mhmm. I missed you terribly.” He pushed back her hair. “How about you? Did you miss me?”

They had been dating for three months now and always Giancarlo was a perfect gentleman. It’s only now that Kate could feel  desperation in his kisses—though her body rejoices in it.

“Do you really have to ask?” On an impulse, she pulled down his head and gave him a kiss on the lips. “Always. I always miss you.”

Giancarlo dropped the flowers on the floor, swept her up into his arms and kicked the door shut. He kissed her as he made his way to the couch. There, he gently laid her down and followed her, covering her body with his.

“Kate?” Giancarlo was looking down at her with a confused frown on his face. “Are you okay?”

She was startled out of her reverie. “Oh! I… uh…”

“Cara, if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, we can stop—”

“No!” Kate said vehemently. “It’s just that… I think I remember… our first time together.” A faint blush rose on her cheeks.

He stared at her for the longest time then he grinned. “Really?” He asked, as he let his hand glide back to her hips to pull her closer to him. “And in this memory, what we did… was it wonderful or amazing or incredible?”

She giggled. “Those words basically mean the same thing. Your arrogance shows.”

He suddenly swept her up into his arms. “Just answer the question.”

Kate laughed harder but patted his cheek. “Oh, it was wonderful, amazing and incredible!” With that, she crushed her mouth to his.

He groaned as he marched them to their bedroom. He laid her gently on the bed and proceeded to kiss her with as much passion as he had exhibited on their first time together. Then he trailed kisses from her neck to the swell of her breast. He reached around her and pulled down the zip of her dress.

Baring her to his gaze, he studied her as he worked on the buttons of his own shirt. Kate helped him, pulling on his clothes with impatience.

“Giancarlo, I want you now.”

But he laid a finger on her lips. “Shh,” he murmured. “We have all night.”

After stripping down to his short, black silk boxers, he went back to the bed and pressed his lips to hers. Their hands explored each other, desperate for each other.

When Kate couldn’t take it anymore, she pleaded. “Now. Please.”

Giancarlo gave her a tender smile and ripped the remaining underwear keeping her from him.

And one thrust, they found each other again.

Hours before dawn, Kate woke up to see Giancarlo watching her intently.

She reached up to touch his cheek. “Is there a problem?” she asked worriedly.

He shook his head and pressed a kiss to her palm. “I just can’t believe you’re really back in my arms now. I missed you so much, cara mia.”

She heard the pain in his voice and felt her own heart twinge. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and cradled his head on her chest. “Well, I’m never going away again. You’d have to have me physically removed from your side if you ever want to get rid of me.”

“I would never, ever want that.”

She smiled. “I would never, ever want that either.”
