Chapter 23
Today we’re going to the doctors and to say I’m nervous is an understatement, Kim seems to be calm over the past few days waiting for today she’s been ok, she’s actually looked at Jasmine and went to pick her up but she decided not to at the last minute. I’m hoping the doctor will be able to help her I really do.
I strap Jasmine’s car seat in and then get into the driver’s seat and look over at Kimba in the passenger’s side
“You okay pet?” I ask and she nods her head
“I just want to get this over with, I want to be able to hold her” she says and then I notice the tears rolling down her cheeks, I lean over and wipe them away
“It’ll be okay” I say and gently kiss her on the lips
“Lets get going” I say and start the car
We’re waiting to be called in to the see the doctor when Kim starts to ramble
“What if I don’t get better? What if they take her away from us?” she says
“Babes it wont come to that, I’ll look after you”
“Kimberley Walsh?” the nurse says, we get up and follow her into a room and sit down in front of the doctor.
“What seems to be the problem?” the doctor asks
“well….” Kim says but stops
“I….I think I might have post natal depression” she mumbles
“Right ok… I’m going to ask you some personal questions” the doctor says
20 minutes later and we’re still in the room and the doctor is writing out a prescription
“These are anti-depressants, they will help and also I’m going to put you in for consoling” he says and Kimba nods
“Okay” she says
“The tablets will take about two weeks to start to have an effect on you, but with the consoling and the tablets together you should start to feel better soon” he smiles at her handing over the prescription
“Thank you” we both say and leave the room and walk out of the doctors and into the car.
“Can you drop me off at the studio?” Kim asks
“Umm, don’t you want to stay home?” I say raising an eyebrow
“Please I cant sit in doors waiting for these pills to start to work, I need to be doing something” she says and I nod my head
“Okay babes”
We drive in silence until we reach the studio
“Don’t work too hard pet” I smile at her and she gives me a smile in return
“I wont, I love you” she says and kisses me
“And I love you baby” I say to her and she gets out of the car, I watch her until she enters the building and then I start to drive back to the house.
“So.. how’d it go?” Nadine asks as we sit in the front room
“it went ok I guess, the doctor gave her some anti-depressants and put her on a list to been seen by a consoler” I say sipping my tea
“Well that’s good” Nadine says
“Aye, hopefully it’ll work her for and then she can be back to her old self” I say wishfully
“It’ll take time babes” she says
“I know, I know” I say rubbing my head
“What you going to do about you going back to work?” she asks
“I haven’t even thought about that” I say sighing
“Well your due back in four weeks”
“I’ll ask the boss for more time off” I say nodding my head
“Okay then hun” she smiles at me
Nadine leaves an hour later, I just put Jasmine down for her nap and Logan Is back from school and he is doing his homework, I hear a key in the door and then hear heels clicking against the flooring, I get up out of my seat in the kitchen and walk into the hallway where I see Kimba taking off her shoes
“Hey baby” I smile and she turns to me with a small smile on her face
“Hey babes, everything alright?” she asks and I nod my head
“How was work?” I say moving to the kitchen boiling the kettle
“Yeah it was alright… I was thinking…” she says
“Go on” I say putting my arm around her
“I was thinking maybe we could take Jasmine to my work, so the girls could meet her” she says and I smile
“Sounds like a good idea to me babes” I say kissing her cheek
“Okay then” she smiles and I pass her, her cup of tea
“Hows she been today?” she asks
“She’s been good, she’s asleep at the moment” I say and she nods her head sipping her tea.
