Voice From the Past

Lost in thought

Walking back on my way

Home from practice

No one to talk to today

Singing to myself

A quiet tune

Lights fading

It'll be dark soon

The horizon starts

To slowly catch fire

My arms are sore

My legs begin to tire

I hear someone call

A few feet behind me

"Blondie is that you?"

A small smile apears

That voice I knew

I turn around in a rush

"Cal? No way!"

I whisper excitedly

So much to say

A small embrace is exchanged

I can't believe how much he's changed!

Tall now and not nearly as frail

Lost touch over the years

Letters lost in the mail

His voice has gone deeper

Interesting to see how he's turned out

"Auna." He says his voice

Tinged with doubt

"Wow you've changed since last I saw.

Can't see your bones now!

And a little more tall."

I laugh at his childish grin

But he's right last time I was

Unhealthily thin

We catch up on everything

We missed over the time

Here of all places

An old friend I find

We recount our old memories

Spent in the hospital halls

Where we met

Never had a chance to call

Him after I came here

He's visiting family

That live so near

Sad the night had to end

But I knew it couldn't last

But I'm still smiling

Because of a voice from the past
