Dan was tired.
Dan was tired of waking up everyday knowing that he was gonna have to see Phil again and knowing that Phil didn't love Dan like Dan loved him. All Dan wanted was for Phil to love him but no matter what happened between them Phil still only considered Dan as his best friend and nothing more. Dan was tired of loving Phil and not having Phil love him back. So after four years of trying and failing, Dan decided that he would give up on Phil and move on. Dan never really liked dating apps because he has had horrible experiences with them before so he really did avoid them at all costs. But Dan was desperate and he wanted to move on from Phil and find someone new so Dan found a dating app and made an account. Over the next few days Dan talked to some people. Some were nice but not what he was looking for and others were just creepy. So Dan gave up on that app and looked for a different one.
On this app Dan had to enter his interest, hobbies and shit like that and the app would show him all the best matches for him. Dan finished entering all his details and waited for some matches to be found. However to Dan's shock and or disappointment he only got one match. Dan clicked on the match and looked through their profile and they did indeed like almost all the same things as Dan did. Dan decided to give this person a shot and message them.
'Hi there, so you're my match I guess? We have a lot of the same thing's in common which is cool my names'. Dan stopped he didn't want to use his full name but he also didn't want to lie. Dan decided to use his some of his initials.

Phil was trying out a new dating app, after all, he was 27, and yet he's never had 1 stable relationship before. This app asked for your hobbies and interests. After entering them in, Phil frowned, only seeing one match for him. He clicked on it, and was about to tap in a message, but before he could, Phil received a message from them. He smiled at the cute code name. Of course he didn't give his real name, since they were pretty much strangers. Phil quickly replied back.
'Yeah, I guess we are a lot alike ^_^ My name's PM'
Phil quickly hit send without reading it over. Once he did, he face palmed at his idiocity. PM? He could have used PL for his first and last name, and yet he chose to use the silliest initials of his first and middle name, resulting in a silly nickname. Ugh. This could be the love of his life and he's already embarrassed himself.
Dan heard his phone go off so he quickly picked it up and was shocked to see that the person had replied back so fast.
'Why hello there PM, it's nice to..Cyber meet you?'
Phil laughed at his response. Well, at least he was funny. And this mysterious person was also on at the same time as him, which was convenient. Phil smiled, typing in a reply.
'Haha, yeah I guess. I like your nickname by the way! DJ. Its really cool. So, have you ever used this app before?'
'Thanks, I think PM is interesting by the way. Also nope I haven't, what about you?'
'Nope, i've never really tried any others, I guess this sort of stuff never interested me. DJ, I know this might be a bit of a personal and random question, but have you ever been in love? I haven't, so I was wondering if you knew what it felt like.'
Dan bit his lip and replied.
'Yeah PM I have been in love and parts of it were amazing and you feel warm and every time you see the person or talk to them you get butterflies in your tummy and it's such a beautiful feeling. But love really hurts, well for me it does the person I love doesn't love me back and it's the worst thing I have ever felt. So love had two sides the good and the bad.'
