 LILAC:

I run my tongue over my muzzle...

Cleaning the last remaining bits of flesh from it.

I leave the carcass.

Bounding through the chilled grasses.

My spirit renewed.

Enjoying the beauty of the land.

A single rabbit dives for his burrow...

As I pass by.

Multiple scents flood into my keen nose...

Too many to name.

But one stands out....

Like the scent of smoke.

I stop.

A wolf.

Another.

My eyes dart around anxiously.

A male wolf.

I continue on my way....

But now....

Much more cautious.

The scent of him is everywhere.

DAMIAN:

I scratch myself on the stump of an old tree....

My back arched.

My tongue lazily lolling out.

My stomach stuffed with the rabbit my clever little paws had snatched up...

I smell water.....my rabbit...leaves....approaching winter...me, of course...and..

I stand up....

And my eyes widen.

Staring about.

I thought I....

Had I?

I smelled another wolf.

A female wolf.

My large brown eyes twinkled with curiosity...

As I set out to find the trespassing stranger.
