Crestfallen

scarred hearts

our hearts are scarred
but scarred hearts are beautiful,
they're not broken...
or maybe they were before.
still they're beating,
for the sake of living.
but i wonder
if our hearts are the ones to decide
whether to heal themselves,
or to not beat anymore.
maybe... just maybe
the pain will stop
if they choose the latter.
