"The house looks better than I remember." Papa scoffed before he shook his head. His eyes continued to roam around the house while a hint of longing was sketched on his face. "He really did look after our home. That boy really don't know how to break a promise . . ."

Ngumiti ako't umalis mula sa pagkakasandal sa pader. "You missed this place, Pa?" tanong ko nang makalapit sa kanyang tabi.

"I did, sweetheart." Inakbayan niya ako. "Your mom and I had so much good memories in this home. This is where we first heard your giggles . . . and your loud cries at night that kept the whole village up 'til five in the morning."

I laughed softly. "You're exaggerating."

Nakangisi siyang tumingin sa akin. Maya-maya ay humugot siya ng malalim na hininga bago piniga ang aking balikat. "If only I didn't decide to take you away from this place . . ."

Ihinagod ko ang aking palad sa kanyang dibdib. There he goes again, blaming himself for something he didn't do. Nagmana yata ako sa kanya dahil sinisisi ko rin ang sarili ko sa peligrong pwedeng sumira sa katahimikan ng Astrid. 

I inhaled a sharp breath. "Why did we leave Astrid, Papa?"

Lumamlam ang mga mata niya. "I can't dodge that question anymore, hmm?"

Umiling ako. "I'm ready to hear the truth now."

He sighed. "For starter, I was scared that my little girl will someday be forced to lead a pack even when she's not designed to fight deadly battles."

"But we came from a long line of hunters, Papa."

"Just because we're hunters doesn't mean I dreamed of seeing you shoot crossbows and fire silver bullets, too Tracy. I wanted a peaceful life for you and your mother. We found that here in Astrid, despite this place being dominated by supernatural beings." Payak siyang ngumiti. "But maybe we were brought here for a reason. Maybe I could never save you from your own destiny because it was meant to happen even before you were even born."

Nakuha ko ang punto niya. I might not end up following his steps as a hunter but look at what role is about to be given to me? I am about to become a Luna. Kahit na gaano pa kagusto ni Papa na magkaroon ako ng normal na buhay, hindi iyon ang nakatadhana para sa akin. 

Yumapos ako sa kanyang baywang. "I'm sure Levi will do everything to keep me safe."

His smile stretched a bit wider. "I should've believed in him a bit more instead of allowing my fear to conquer me. Kung hindi naman dahil sa kanya, maliit ka pa lang ay nawala ka na sa amin ng Mama mo."

Kumunot ang noo ko. "Why, Papa? What did he do?"

"Have you noticed Levi's eyes?"

"Uhm, it turns blue sometimes."

Marahan siyang tumango. "Levi was called the blue-eyed alpha because he's the only alpha whose eyes resembles a pureblood's eyes when his wolf is in the surface and when he's in his wolf form. The reason for that is because Levi's wolf came out too early than it should. Karaniwang lumalabas ang kanilang wolf kapag tumuntong sila ng tamang edad. Usually around sixteen to twenty one years old, but in Levi's case, his wolf came out when he was seven."

"How did it happen, Papa?"

"He was desperate to save you from danger, Tracy. And that desperation forced his wolf to come out. He almost died but the Lycan King bit him to heal his dying wolf, and that bite didn't just save him. It made him possess a portion of the Lycan King's unique abilities."
