13. TRUST

47 10 2

Trust is harnessed by soft whispers,

That unclothe secrets.

Exhibiting naked mysteries your eyes witness.

Hush-hush; it’s a pledge of loyalty.

I wiped away the tears you cried.

I caught you at every slip.

I held your heart by mine.

Will you trust me to take your hand?

My palm lay open,

His fingers traced slowly

Soft, cold, tickling,

The simple touch, enough

It’s within me

If you want it, come take it

But it’s as fragile as my heart

So try not to break it

A shoulder to lean on

And a heart to understand

If you are gone

Who will hold my hand

Trust means my hand in yours

Trust means your hand in mine

Trust means sharing out secrets

And storing them where others can’t find.

Hold my fingers tightly dear, I’ll steal you from the claws

Of icy pain, it’s satan’s maze in which you have been lost

I’ll even grant you those dead years, they’ll breathe at my command

Safety is in reach right here, just grab my offered hand

With all things

If it’s broken throw it away

But with trust you must heal and bend

To find a happy end
