Kinisa: I think five weeks is more than enough ignoring Draupadi.

Me: Sorry! I've been writing other stories too, and I like them all so much, but it's hard to write one and another at the same time, let alone four or five.

Kinisa: Still, you're ignoring us.

Temari: You. Not us.

Kankuro: We're in all her stories.

Gaara: Especially me.

Kinisa: GODDAMNIT DRAUPADI!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinisa's POV

I woke to find Gaara lying next to me, looking up at the ceiling.

“Gaara?” I asked dimly.

He turned to me.

“I'm here,” he said.

“Did I get lost in my power?” I asked.

He nodded.

“Unfortunately, yes. I tried to stop you gently, but you turned around and hit me, so I had no use but to use force,” he sighed.

“I'm sorry,” I said softly.

“It's okay. Temari said you were awake for a few minutes, but fell asleep quickly,” he said, pulling me into his arms.

“I guess so,” I said.

Gaara's POV

I held her against my chest.

Suddenly, she started crying.

“Oh Gaara, will we ever be able to sit down and be at peace? Will we always be fighting with others? I'm sick of fighting. I just want to settle down somewhere and have a family with you, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I don't want to be part of any fight or any war. I just want to be happy,” she sobbed.

I smoothed the back of her head.

“I promise. One day we'll settle down and have a family. This will all end eventually. Don't you remember my promise when I first met you?” I said softly.

She sniffled, and nodded her head.

“You'll always protect me. You'll make all my wishes come true,” she muttered.

Kinisa's POV

When we met....

That was years ago.

I was only five....

Flashback

I hurried down the road with the bread I had just stolen.

Living alone without my family was hard. I had to steal to live.

When I'd got rid of the people following me, I huddled in a corner and ate the bread slowly.

I was half way through it when I heard footsteps in the alley.

I raised my head quickly, hiding in the shadows.

A boy about my age with red hair walked into the alley.

He had dark rings around his eyes, and he looked sad.

“Are you okay?” I asked, coming out of the shadows.

He got a fright, and sand shot out of nowhere at me.

It reached for me, but I leapt away.

“I'm sorry!” he said quickly, and I could see tears forming in his eyes.

“I'm fine. It's okay,” I said quickly, walking forward and placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

He sniffled and wiped his nose on the back of his hand.

“Why aren't you afraid like the others?” he asked.

“What others? And why would I be afraid of you? You aren't scary,” I said, holding the bread in my hands.

He looked me up and down.

My clothes were torn and dirty.

I had stolen bread with me.

It was clear that I had no home.

“Do you have a family?” he asked.

I shook my head.

“Do you?” I asked.

He nodded.

“They don't like me though,” he said sadly.

“Do you have friends?” I asked softly.

He shook his head.

“I don't either,” I sighed.

“Wanna be friends?” he asked shyly.

“Uh, sure,” I said.

“My name's Gaara,” he said, smiling slightly.

“Kindia. Let's be best friends,” I grinned.

“Yeah. Let's look after each other, and make each other's dreams come true,” he grinned back.

“Promise?” I asked, holding out my little finger.

He linked his little finger around mine.

“Promise.”

End Flashback

We were so young back then, so innocent.

He taught me everything I knew, to a point.

He taught me how to read and write, basic jutsus, and much more.

“I'll keep my promise, as will you. Our wish is the same, and it will happen,” he said softly.

I raised my head to look up at him.

“Thank you,” I said softly.

“I love you,” he smiled at me.

“I love you too.”

He kissed my forehead softly.

“The sooner we have our wedding, the sooner we can take a break from all of this,” I said, smiling cheekily.

“Hmm, eager suddenly,” he muttered.

I giggled.

“I want to get some alone time with you, away from all this fighting, and I know that it will happen if we get married,” I said.

He laughed softly.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

I snuggled closer to him.

All I really needed was Gaara.

And it was Gaara that I had.
