It had been a week exactly, since Haley had explained her plan. Today, Friday, would be the day I would try to get Charlie back.

The day started out like any other had been for the past week. I ran to school and had my own private soccer practice. From there I showered in the locker room, where Haley met me.

"You ready for this?" Haley asked me.

I was brushing through my wet hair as I answered, "As ready as I'll ever be."

"It'll work, don't worry."

"I hope."

It was lunchtime, and Ben and I were sitting at a picnic table outside. We were waiting for Alex, Henry and Haley to join us.

"So, how are you feeling about tonight?" Ben questioned.

"I'm nervous, definitely. I'm a little scared, cause I'll be putting myself out there," I answered, taking a bite of my apple.

"Do you know what you're going to say?"

"Somewhat, yes," I replied. "Enough of this, I know we'll be talking about it when the others get here. Are you nervous?"

"Not really," Ben said. Their last soccer game of the season was today.

"Is anybody nervous?"

"Nah, I don't think so. Angry, yes," Alex replied, announcing his presence. Haley and Henry were with him. Haley sat on my left, with Alex on her left. Henry took a seat opposite of us, next to Ben.

"Why would they be angry?" Haley asked.

"Because of what happened when we played the team last time," Henry told us.

"Well what team are you playing? And what time?" I questioned.

"West High Pirates. 5:30," Alex answered, scowling.

"Oh," I replied, nodding my head in understanding.

"What's wrong with them?" Haley asked.

"Well, they're our rivals. You should know that," Henry said, rolling his eyes. Ben hit him upside the head. "Ow!" Henry complained.

"We don't like them because they're sexist. They were jerks when we played them when Anna was coaching," Alex explained.

"Oh," Haley replied.

We all nodded.

We then started talking about tonight, and what I was supposed to do. How I would follow Henry's uncle, and then wait up there until after the Star Spangled Banner was song.

"Are you ready for this?" Alex questioned at the end of lunch. Everyone else was walking ahead of us to throw their garbage out.

"Yes," I sighed.

"It'll all work out, Anna. And if Charlie can't see how sorry you are, and doesn't take you back, he's stupid," Alex said.

"Thanks Alex," I smiled. "Oh, and can you ask Haley out already? Stop making the poor girl wait so long! We can all feel the tension between you two."

Alex blushed. "Anna, shut up."

"Nice comeback," I snorted.

Alex stuck his tongue out at me as we caught up to the group.

It was five o'clock, and I was currently standing by the concession stand with Haley, waiting for Henry's uncle to show up.
