Chapter 5

Izzy tugged the suitcase behind her as she approached the jet that was getting ready on the runway. The wind was making her freshly tamed hair fly around her and probably turning it into a nest look-a-like. She dressed in a pair of white slim fitted pants, and a light blue blouse. From looking at the itinerary she knew that she wouldn't have a chance to change her outfit in the hotel room before going to the conference so she mulishly put on a pair of blue heels. Her blazer was draped across her arm, and a purse hung from the other as she came closer to the stairs that lead up to the plane.

"I'll take that for you ma'am." A well put together man probably into his forties told her, reaching for the black suitcase in her hand. She smiled gratefully at him, knowing very well that if she had tried to take it up herself; she would have probably fallen flat on her face. The suitcase wasn't particularly heavy, but combined with her heels, the wind, her purse and the draped jacket she knew it was just a disaster waiting to happen.

As she entered the plane the first thing she noticed was the beige leather interior, and the cherry wood finishing. It reminded her of another plane, at another time in her life, and it made her horrible uncomfortable.

A flight attended came towards her with a bright smile and walked her over to where she would be sitting. Izzy sunk down onto to the wide leather seat and carefully placed her blazer on a small round table beside her.

"Mr. Constantinides is running a few minutes late. We will take off as soon as he arrives." The flight attendant informed her politely.

Izzy nodded her thanks and reached for the book she had brought with her. She was through the first few pages when she heard commotion on the jet. She looked up just in time to see Leo strolling through the door of the plane. Even a plane so big felt extremely small with him in it. He seemed larger than life as he looked towards her with a smile and started in her direction. His grey suit hugged him perfectly, adding more width to his already broad shoulders. As he came towards her Izzy felt a sudden need to stand in his presence but she shook that feeling away. He wasn't some god that she needed to worship, he was just a man. A man who was kindly helping her beloved orphanage gain more funding.

"Good day Isobel." He said as if he had just walked out of an old movie.

"Hello Mr. Constantinides." Izzy replied as warmly as she could. When she was around Leo she felt her confidence slip, and she hated that. He just had this intimidating presence about him that was hard to overlook.

"As I've said before, I would prefer if you call me Leo." He reminded her smoothly, as she unbuttoned his suit, took it off and swiftly slide into the chair across from her.

Izzy knew she couldn't ignore his request this time so she smiled up at him. "Leo, thank you so much for allowing me to come along with you to the conference." She told him politely. Leo handed his suit to a flight attendant that was nearby and nodded thanks at her.

"It's my pleasure. I hope this plane is comfortable enough for you, I am sure you are used to much more extravagant ones." Leo's eyes sparkled and Izzy blanched. How did he know that she had been in planes like this before? She had never even told Max about it.

"I'm very comfortable, thank you." She told him turned her gaze back to her book, but she didn't get a chance to reach past the first sentence.

"Would you like anything to eat or drink before we take off?" Leo asked her civilly.

Izzy looked up at him and shook her head. "No thank you." Izzy told him once again returning her gaze to her novel.

"Are you going to spend the whole ride reading that book?" Leo asked her somewhat irate.
