Black and White, Blood and Bone

my body and yours

do you know what they need

what they crave,

what they are not able to speak

of course you don't

it's a mystery,

another cold case to hit the streets

just another file in your brain

for when you can't get to sleep

black and white,

blood and bone

what's the difference

when it's cold

and i'm all alone

my lips are chapped

and my heart is rotted

and i can't help but find humor in you

because you haven't felt what it's like to

truly be uncapped

from the soles of our shoes

to the way we walk,

the faces we make in the mirror on lonely friday night

to the shampoo that we use

we're two people

who've lived two completely different lives

who are you

and who am i

to say we'd see everything the same light

black and white,

blood and bone

what's the difference

when it's cold

and you're all alone
