Her Father

In the midst of the forest, under the sky light bare

Wrapped in just a little blanket, she lay crying there.

Drops of water fell from heaven, landing on her pale face

They came down without a care, they came down with a rhythmic grace.

The sky grew darker, the drops more violent,

Accompanied them was thunder

Her tears still fell, but the muffled noises were now silent.

Her eyes seemed to have lost their gleam, a thin line for a smile

Rain now mixed with the glistening beads, a woman replaced the child.

The truth was setting in, but it was far from being accepted

She knew she wasn't the only one grieving, but the blow was harsher than she expected.

His words echoed in her head, on a constant repeat,

"You will not slow down, you will not accept defeat.

You'll move on and you will succeed,

You'll fulfil your dreams and never be weak.

You'll live your life, like I'd been living mine, full of care, each moment sublime.

My memories will be a constant reminder,

To live to the fullest, not let your happiness hinder

And if you feel like giving up any day,

Just remember that I didn't give up, till the day I died,

Remember , I'll always be, by your side."

Images flashed before her eyes, voices on the play

For the first time she'd ever cried

So much, that now she felt empty inside.

How could she move on? How could she try...?

Try to live like nothing's wrong,

Try to behave like it was all fine.

He had asked too much of her, too much of her broken soul

To live each day, and another

A smile on her face, her heart on a flutter,

How could when she had lost her everything her... Father.
