A hop,

A skip,

And a laugh.

Remember the days,

When recess wasn’t about who hung out with whom,

Or about the latest celebrity scandal

Back then,

It was about letting your entire energy run wild.

You didn’t care,

You talked to everyone.

That was me.

I didn’t care,

Who you were,

Or what clothes you were wearing.

Recess was my time to say what I wanted.

I didn’t care who played in the sand with me,

Or mind if you wanted to play tag with us.

But that was simpler times.

If you can just remember,

Everyone needs just one friend,

They don’t deserve the hating words.

Can’t we all go back to the simpler times?
