Chapter 9

“Where are we going again?” she asked, the tenth time, as they sat in the sleek black coach. Currently, the ‘evil’ prince was taking her on a trip into town. She was wearing a light brown dress, with a fitting blouse and a puffed long skirt with various flattering designs. “You’ll see” he simply replied in his brown formal suit, with a cream lose shirt underneath it, sitting calmly in a sophisticated posture. She looked out of the small window in the coach, her eyes scanning through the fields the coach passed, while she pouted waiting for the surprise. But no matter how good the surprise would be, it can never make her forget how important her people were to her, and how important was it to keep the key far, far away from the reach of the king and his followers-including the lad sitting across from her. She sat back in her seat, tired of watching the same stretched field for half an hour. As she sat back down, she tried to imitate the posture he was sitting in, by crossing her legs and looking up straight, putting her hands on her thighs. “What are you doing?” He asked her, annoyed. “Trying to be like you” she simply replied, in a mocking thick accent. “well you look ridiculous” he commented, making her giggle “that is precisely the point” she shot back, to which he huffed and sat back into his seat, knowing that if he continued the small talk, it would be the death of him. We are almost there, my prince” the person behind the walls of the carriage said. “Would you care to say where exactly we are heading to?” she shouted at the man riding the horses, while she patted her light brown colored dress, running her finger through her long brown hair, that were slightly curled in the ends.

“You will find out soon” the prince replied, “I wasn’t talking to you” she told him, childishly sticking her tongue out, “Well too bad, I answered your question” he replied, leading to a dull silence until he spoke up saying “It is a nice dress you are wearing, the cream definitely suits your skin” he said out of the blue,

“So that is what you have been doing these past months? Learning about what dresses suit what kinds of skin?” she asked rudely, suddenly curious about his recent activities. “No, I just said that because… never mind” he concluded, clenching his jaw muscles with his teeth. “What?” she asked, wanting to know what was in the mind of that brunette boy in front of her. “I said nothing” he replied in an annoyed tone. “Fine” she said calmly, which surprised him, making him raise one of his eyebrows. They both stayed there, drenched in silence, until she couldn’t withhold it and shouted “I thought we were almost there!” loud enough for the coachman to hear her. “Sire, my apologies but we were supposed to be there by now” the coachman said, giving a puzzled look on both of the teenagers’ faces. “What are you trying to imply?” the lad asked, looking through the small window situated in between the walls separating the coachman and the passengers. “I-I th-think we went in the wrong direction” the coachman said, probably shaking. The prince took a deep sigh and opened the coach’s door and jumped out of it. She saw him look around through the open door. He turned fully clockwise, and then ran his fingers through his volumed hair, as if angry and exhausted. “Where are we?” she asked, curious. “I don’t … know” he replied with a frown appearing on his clear skin. “Let me see” she said quickly, “Let me see” she said quickly, ducking through the door to come out. “Wait, I will help you get out” he said, his hands swiftly holding her on both ends of her small waist. She jumped and he quickly caught her on the ground. “Thank you” she said, still standing in the same position of him holding her waist, while she looked up at him, which she ended up deeply regretting. “You can get your hands off of me now” she joked, while slightly blushing. “Oh, right, sorry” he said, quickly loosening one of his hands to the force of gravity, while scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. She looked at the field to decrease the amount of awkwardness

. Once she jumped out of the coach, she took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh countryside air that she missed dearly. As she stretched a little, after exhausting herself in the coach for hours, she looked around to perceive her surroundings when she suddenly walked into the empty field, awestruck when suddenly a house appeared in front of her. “This cannot be possible” she said, awestruck at the place in front of her, “You are right, the map couldn’t have been wrong” he replied, oblivious that she was talking about something very different to his analysis. “No you idiot, I was talking about that building in the middle of this field” she told him angrily, while he looked at her in confusion, his forehead forming creases. She walked out of the field, and pulled the Prince’s arm, dragging him inside the field, when the house once again appeared before her eyes.
