Thank you to everyone who has voted for my story, I really appriciate it.

"Catch!" Kai calls, throwing a wet pile of seaweed at me. I gasp and quickly pick up a big load of it. I launch the ball of seaweed at him and as if someone had punched him, he staggers back.

"Kai!" I say, panicked. Had I hurt him? I approach him slowly, he has his hand covering his face, where the seaweed had hit him. Oops. His sandy blonde hair flaps slightly in the wind, making him look like a Greek God. A Greek God? I had just hurt Kai and all I could think about was how much he looked like a Greek God. I extend my arm slowly and I am inches away from touching his hand before:

"Ahhhhhh!" He exclaims, startling me. I scream and jump and then quickly realise that he's joking. I must have looked like a right pleb.

"KAI! Don't do that to me! I thought I'd seriously injured you!" I say, annoyed at his stupid little joke.

"Lighten up. And seaweed? Injure someone? You are joking." He says, mocking me. Running his hands through his perfect mane of hair, he looks up at me with his sparkling eyes that make me want to stare at them all day.

"It's not funny, there could have been rocks in it!"

"Well you should have checked before you threw it. Well think yourself lucky that I'm ok then." Smiling, he makes the final stretch to our rock-pooling spot. Kai and I had found this spot when we were young and we'd been coming here ever since. It truly was lovely. The scenery is spectactular, like something out of a movie. It looks like it belongs in a mystical place, where mermaids sit upon the rocks brushing their beautiful, long hair.

"How's your mum?" His mum had just had her second baby, Ellie. Ellie had been born premature and is being kept in hospital for a week while the doctors make sure that she is ready to go home.

"Alright. A bit confused." He says, lazily, making his way down some ledges. I follow him down to our spot. "Yours?" He says, turning to look at me.

"Looney, annoying. Did I say looney?" He laughs at me and starts lifting rocks to see if there are any crabs underneath them. Kai knows what my mum's like. She really is quite strange. You never know how to approach her.

"Still running her Tuesday night book meeting?" He laughs. Mum runs a snobby book club on a Tuesday for people who think they're better thank everyone else.

"Unfortunately." I say, while lifting a massive rock, to find the most ginormous one-eyed crab I've ever seen. Trying to impress Kai, I attempt to pick it up to which the crab clamps one of it's massive claws around my finger. "OWWWW!" I howl. Don't cry, don't cry.

"Kate, Kate! What's wrong? You better not be joking. What the-" Kai's eyes widens as he spots the crab that is still attached to my finger. "Woah!"

"Don't. Just. Stand. There!"I say through gritted teeth. The pain started seering through my finger and the crab finally lets go, leaving a huge cut in my index finger. I am definitely NEVER picking up a crab again.

"Kate, are you alright?"

"Yes, of course. Besides the fact I have a huge cut in my finger!" I say sarcastically. Kai bends down to see if I'm ok. He gently touches my hand and kisses my finger. Cupping some water, he pours it over my wound. The cut is quite deep and has scarlet blood pouring from it.

"Salt water is good for cuts." He says sweetly. 14 year old Kai is a lot nicer than 13 year old Kai. 13 year old Kai would have laughed at me and told me to get a grip.

Dear Diary, today I got bitten by a massive, horrible, ugly crab. I had to get 3 stitches! Mum says I'm not allowed to go anywhere with Kai again because 'he's a bad influence' but he's my best friend.
