Lost Love

Chapter 4 - The agreement

"Dying is a messy, bloody, ugly thing. I don't want to kill you in front of her, and I don't particularly want to die in front of her either.If we must fight, we do it without a female audience."stated the man in the woods. 

The Vampire laughed at him, asking him how come he's acting all nice and gentle to a human.The man of the woods aimed at the vampire and started to fight,it was difficult for me to watch their moves, they move too fast for a human vision. The vampire grabbed a wooden stake and aimed it to the heart of his opponent, with his really fast reflexes the man took the wooden stake from the vampire's hands and drove it to his heart. The Vampire fell down on the ground with the wooden stake pierced through the heart. The man walked towards him and pushed the stake more deep inside, the vampire started to turn blue and white in the same time. He was like a human rock.

It was something out of this world, I just watched a movie in front of me,with the only difference this was all true.

I was trembling almost crying. I was terrified! The man walked near me and stared at me,put his hand on my shoulder and said '' Don't be afraid of me, I won't hurt you.''

He layed me down on the ground and told me that he's going to heal my bite. I was bitten from the vampire and I was too weak to let it heal by itself. The man explained to me some stuff I had no idea of : A vampire's blood can heal any wound,he can do that by biting his own hand and feed me his own blood. A vampire's blood is like a medicine to a wound,a human wound.

He done what he had to do and I was like brand new, no wounds no blood no nothing!

I got up and noticed I wasn't shaking anymore. I am not afraid of him anymore, he showed me he's not like the rest of them , he saved my life once again. I can't believe I found him , luck I guess. 

''Thank-you,'' I whispered ''What's your name''? I continued looking at him,cleaning his hands from the vampire's blood. '' It's not something I like to share but I'll tell you'' he said in a creepy tone '' Nathaniel '' 

After this whole time I finally know his name , he 's not the man in the woods anymore, he's my new Vampire friend that saved my life twice.

I had no idea in our town lived  creatures like this. A dead human back to life that feeds from human blood'.  I imagine when someone reveals something like this, they be terrified, I admit I was at first but now I've seen the good side of Nathaniel. Although he's a vampire and he feeds on blood, he decided to save me and not feed on me. It's a Mystery why.. ! , but true.

“So--what's it like, being a vampire?" I mumbled

'' Life has meaning,life has purpose. I can't really explain it,but I'm totally glad I became undead. I'd never go back to being human.'' Nathaniel replied.

I had a lot of questions to ask him but I don't really know him and he won't answer everything so fast. We walked in the forest together to go back in town. We both said nothing for a while but I had a plan in mind. I wanted to get to know him better, so I asked him to meet me tomorrow for some coffee. Nathaniel giggled and replied '' there's a lot to learn girl, we feed on blood not on coffee or food, and most of all we don't go out in sunlight'' I was startled with his words, I had no words to explain what I was thinking. He smiled again and told me to meet at eight o clock in the evening instead. I was happy to meet him still, I've got to spend some time with him in the end.

Home was few feet away and he stopped near the corner saying his goodbye there. He looked me in the eyes and whispered I ain't going to be there to save you all the time stay careful. I turned around and walked away. I know it's the true but I love it having a guardian angel ready to save me.

I opened the door slowly and walked  inside. Luckily everyone was sleeping and no one noticed I'm gone. I walked upstairs  and headed to bed. 

Millions of thoughts ran through my mind. How come no one ever mentioned something like this?

Vampires really? It's impossible no one knows about their existence. I couldn't believe what happened tonight really happened but believe it or not it did.

My father won't approve my friendship with Nathaniel,I have to keep it a secret from everyone, even from my mother.Sometimes my father can be a severe nuisance.  In the morning I got up from bed and went to have breakfast , I was starving. My mother was already awake knitting some clothes for me while My father was in his office with some of his employee's. I had nothing to do today, all I wished for was to meet Nathaniel. It's still so early to meet him , he's somewhere hiding from the sun , I guess. I sat down next to my mother wondering about Nathaniel. 

Does he live alone? Where is his house? and a lot of other questions. I was lost in thoughts and I haven't realized my mother was talking to me. '' Elsie'' Sigh ''Elsie,honey what are you thinking so deep you haven't heard me?'' mum continued. I smiled and told her I was thinking about Alexander.  She asked me to help her do her hair and figure out a gown for tonight, they were invited for  dinner at my father's employee's house. I immediately agreed to help her,I am going to be home alone, no one will be there to disturb me while I prepare for my sneak out with Nathaniel. 

I decided to spend the day with Anna,go walking near the lake and have some private conversation with her than I go home help mum and sneak.Anna is the one that understands me and keeps everything I say to her secret. We've been friends since we've been five years old,I know I can trust her.

'' What if Alexander is not the right man for me, what if there's someone out there ready to be mine forever and he can't make his move to be with me because of him''  I grumbled to Anna walking back home. She lifted an eyebrow and stared at me '' You know we can't decide nothing for ourselves, your father have the right to do that , he's the man in the house ''  When times are hard it doesn't mean life is over. It just means that we have to reorganize our life and goals. Against my will I have to stick to what my father decides no matter what, and I have to live my life with Alexander,

far away from Nathaniel.
