Devon's POV-

I had completely forgotten that we were being watched and apparently, photographed. When I heard Sidney, I was abruptly brought back to reality. I sat up and rolled off of Shane and turned my back to everyone, looking into the trees. I can't believe I had done that. It was so hard to breath all of a sudden. I didn't know what to say or what to do. I hear Sidney walk by me and tell me something about not denying there isn't anything there and I found myself looking her way as she and Tony left. I guess that's a wrap. But Shane never got the shots he wanted. I looked down, disappointed with myself for failing him and then I saw two feet come to a stop in front of me.

“I'm sorry.” I mumbled and looked off to the side. I felt the ground thud and looked back to find him on his knees in front of me, his chest still moving up and down quickly.

“I wouldn't be.” And when I looked up, he was smiling. “That was amazing.” Confusion crossed my mind.

“But we didn't get what we came here to do.” I tell him. He smirked like he had a secret he wasn't telling me.

“But I did.” He tells me as he sets his camera down on the ground and crawled onto his hands towards me so his face hung playfully inches from mine. He licked his lips. As he closed the gap, I turned my face so his lips landed on my cheek instead. He pulled away, his gaze full of concern.

“I think we need to cool off a bit.” I tell him. He nodded. I noted his disappointment but I wasn't quite ready to let it go further. Not that I didn't want to but I just wasn't ready. He got up, grabbed his camera and extended his hand to me. I took it as he helped me up.

Shane's POV-

After packing my stuff back into my car, we climbed in. We drove mostly in silence until Devon broke it.

“Can I ask you a question?” She says as we drive up my parents' driveway. I looked over at her and found myself worrying. I nodded when she looked over at me. “So what is this we're doing? I mean...” She paused. I knew she was calculating every word before she said anything. I kissed her gently on the nose and laughed at her predicament.

“We like each other and we're having fun.” I tell her. “It's quite simple really.” And then she flared red with anger, opened the car door, slammed it and stopped the ground she walked on. “What's wrong?” I say trying to follow her after I got out of the driver’s seat. She stopped, turned around and pointed a well manicured finger at me in an accusatory tone.

“You!” She began. “All you men want is fun. I'm not in it for fun, Shane.” And she calmed down and looked like she was about to cry. “I thought this, you and I... I thought we'd be more than just fun.” And that's when I realized that I should have thought better with my choice of words. I had no clue that she would have been ready for serious so soon after the ordeal with her father. I didn't know what to say so I settle with saying nothing. I watched as she sighed, turned and left me there in the proverbial cold and slammed the front door to the house. I had obviously hurt her.

Later, I found myself in my room, scanning through the photos Sidney took at the park a few hours earlier when I heard a soft knock on my bedroom door.

“Come in.” I said looking at the door. I knew it wasn't Devon. Man I wish I would have said something different. Sidney came in and sat on my bed.

“How are they?” She asked me about the shots.

“They're actually really good.” I say and as I'm scanning quickly through the photos, I catch on a close-up of Devon and I, our lips parted and mere centimetres from eachother and our eyes filled with want and need for one another. A surge of sadness overtook me. “Here, take my seat and look at them.” I get up and go lay on my bed with my arms crossed behind my head.
