You Knew That

He likes his coffee cold
And he hates to have his picture taken.
He dislikes TV
And gets excited when Dallas scores.
But I bet you knew that.

He promised me that I was beautiful
And he took pictures of us together, even though he hates them.
He watched my favorite shows,
And he told me that we were forever.
But I bet you knew that.

He left me with a ring
And thousands of photographs that were taken across a seven year span.
He stopped returning my calls,
And asked for his Dallas sweatshirt back six months later.
But I bet you knew that.

He promised that you were perfect
And he bought you expensive wine, and you drank it together on Sunday.
He proposed to you after eight months,
And he said that you were forever.
But I bet you knew that.

He breaks his promises, because you weren't perfect
And that wine bottle sits broken on the kitchen floor.
He asked you for the ring back, but he never asked for mine,
And he lies when he says that forever is definite.
But I bet you knew that.

He left you for another Dallas fan,
And she's beautiful and perfect.
He buys her rings and wine and takes photographs with her
And he promises that they are forever.
But I bet you knew that, too.
