Everything is Operating

I feel like everyone’s missed the news.

No one’s really doing anything different, besides the people in the riots. I mean, some people quit their jobs, sure, but I was expecting more than this. I was almost expecting us to destroy ourselves before the meteor hits.

But no. You can still buy your groceries and get checked out. You can still get them walked to your car, if you want. You can go to the bank and get checks cleared. You can go to work if you want, although no one wants to.

Everything is operating as though nothing is happening.

I’m not sure whether if that’s comforting or even scarier.
