“I like you Soph.” Seamus said; his breath brushed against my cheek, the smell of mint enveloped me.

My breath caught in my throat, forcing me to whisper a reply, “I like you too.”

Seamus scooted closer, “No, I like you more than just a friend.” His fingers began to entwine with mine.

My heart pounded, my cheeks grew hot and I looked down at our hands, his warm palms pressed against mine, I wished to be closer. “I like you too, Seamus.” I muttered again.

“Don’t forget about me over the holiday?”

“Never, I could never forget about you.”

Seamus pulled away and smiled at me, his eyes shined as he leaned in again, brushing his lips softly against mine, letting them linger long enough to make me long for their touch again as soon as it was gone.

The whistle screamed somewhere ahead of us, echoing through the crowded platform. Seamus stood up and pulled me with him, helping me carry my trunk to a trolley and find my mum and dad.

“Bye Soph, I’ll send you an owl this summer.” He winked and disappeared among the crowd before I could say anything.

“Bye.” I whispered, wishing the year had never ended.
