I watch Clary glare at the girls flirting with Dakota and Hunter. For the past few minutes of lunch time, the girls (who went on a date with the boys) have been flirting with the poor men.

     Hunter mumbles, "sure, why not?"

One brown-haired girl exclaims, "great! See you then!" Although, she doesn't leave. She clings onto Hunter's arm.

Dakota and I watch the three people in front of us. Clary, gritting her teeth from jealousy, the brown-haired girl giggling, and Hunter having his head down from blushing. I told Clary that Hunter was just being nice, but she refused to believe me.

"I was wondering if you boys would like to join breakfast with us tomorrow morning. You guys in?" I ask, ignoring the girls.

"Ugh can't wait. I'm craving for bacon," Clary sighs.

The brown-haired girl asks, "isn't bacon made from pigs?"

     Clary glares and says, "duh."

The girl rolls her eyes and says, "well you are what you eat." She smirks.

Clary gets up in anger, drawing attention from a few people. Dakota and I try to calm her down, but she interrupts us by throwing an insult.

"Well maybe that's why you're such a di-" Hunter covers her mouth before she can swear. Clary huffs and sits down, crossing her arms.

I look at the brown-haired girl's reaction, although she leaves the table. I let out a sigh of relief, while Clary grins in victory. I give my best friend a warning look, silently telling her to watch her mouth.

Instead of rolling her eyes as usual, she points to the girl clinging onto Dakota. A pang of jealousy hits me, but I ignore it. It's Dakota's life, not mine.

"To answer your question, Colette, I'd love to go to breakfast with you girls," Dakota smiles his usual bright smile. It's the smile that takes my breath away.

"Great! I'll pay," I smile back at my friend.

     "No, I'll pay," Dakota argues.

    "No, I'll pay."

     "No, Colette, I'll pay."

     "I'm being serious, I-"

"Will you two quit flirting?! Gosh, Dakota will pay. He's the man here!" Clary interrupts our argument, glaring at Dakota and I.

I use my hair to hide my blush. Did she have to say the 'F' word?

"You coming, Hunter?" Dakota asks nonchalantly.

"Sure," Hunter answers with no emotion.

"Sorry that I took you away from Clary. I know you two are close, but it's not everyday we get to walk home together," Dakota says as he slowly rides on his skateboard, matching my pace.

"Clary doesn't mind. In fact, I think she's glad she'll have Hunter all to herself," I chuckle.

"Yeah, I heard about how they met," he replies.

Awkward silence. Weird. Usually, we never come across an awkward silence. Conversations come naturally to us. I sigh inwardly, frustrated at the new change.

"Is it just me or are we being awkward?" Dakota asks, wanting to break the silence.

"It's just you," I lie.

Dakota chuckles and says, "you're not a good liar."

I help Clary get dressed. It's eight in the morning and we're getting dressed to go out for breakfast. Although, all Clary has is a closet full of black clothes.

For Clary, I pick out a black blouse with black leggings. I choose the black combat boots instead of her usual Converse. I stare at Clary as she pushes her glasses up.

"I'll look ridiculous," Clary groans at the sight of the clothes.

"No you won't. I'm going to do the waterfall braid on you, okay?" I assure my friend. Besides, she needs to look good for Hunter.

"Shouldn't you be worrying about how you look in front of Dakota?" Clary smirks and adds on, "oh wait, it won't matter. He'll love whatever you're going to wear."

I playfully glare at my teasing friend. I make sure to hide my red ears.

Clary slips on the clothes and says, "you'll get a nosebleed from blushing too much."

"Ugh, I'm fine with what I'm wearing and I wasn't blushing," I deny her comment.

Today I'm wearing nothing special. Just a sailor blue tee with white shorts. I slipped on my usual white Converse, and left my hair down.

"Now sit down, I'm going to do your braid," I command, pushing Clary onto the vanity chair.

Before I can get started, I receive a text.

Dakota: "Hey...."

I unlock my phone to read his text.

Dakota: "Hey, Colette. Makayla and Holly asked Hunter and I for breakfast at the cafe. They were persistent so we had to agree. We won't be coming for breakfast. I'm sorry. Maybe next time?"

I set my phone down, speechless. It's the second time Dakota rejected me to hang out. And he's going with those girls! I bite my lip.

"What's wrong?" Clary asks.

"Dakota and Hunter won't make it to breakfast. They are busy with the girls," I mumble.

"So we're just going to sit here? You're just going to sit here? No, you need to get your man back!" With that, Clary gets up to leave.

"Where you going?" I question, walking behind her.

"To Dakota's house."
