Walking through the house she noticed several things at once. The house was old, most likely built in the 1700s. But yet, everything in the house looked brand new. Did they remodel it?

Ava sighed as she finished off the food, “Why did that boy call you Shaman?” she finally asked Charlotte.

“Because, while I’m human and I a thing or two about how to heal them quickest. Shaman of their people is what they call me. I know more about plants and herbs then normal humans,” Charlotte said and Ava nodded.

Ava was quiet for the rest of the walk to the room where… Liam her mate was. She wanted to know what this Mate thing was about.

As they got to the room Charlotte opened the door and smiled, “Alpha, I bring your human mate with me,” she said as Ava walked in after her. Liam smiled at Ava and she couldn’t help but smile back. “She wants to know everything,” Charlotte said and then left.

“Everything?” He whispered and Ava sighed but nodded. “Right… Everything.”

Ava sat down on the edge of his bed, “I want to know every thing... What is this shit about being your mate?”

“It’s not shit. It’s destiny… “ Liam whispered and sat up. “The Great Luna makes a mate for every one of us. The other part of our soul.”

“Start from the beginning please Liam… I want to know everything.”

Liam stood up and then grabbed her hand and started to pull her out his door. He was bringing her outside. Show her… He heard the Great Luna in his mind. He knew what to show her… His wolf.

Once outside he took a deep breath and turned her around. “Stay like that...” he whispered in her ear, she nodded. Liam undressed as fast as he could then started the shift to his wolf.

He felt his neck started to become longer, growing a snout. Soon enough he started growing claws and fur. The process was slightly painful after almost dying. He winced three or five times before he became a white wolf.

Liam went and tapped her on the leg with his nose. She turned and jumped, “Liam?” she whispered and he shook his head.

Ava fell to the ground looking at his wolf form. “That’s it! I’m in my own version of Twilight!” she yelled. Liam growled, this was nothing like twilight… “I’m sorry… That’s probably an insult,” she said sighing.

Liam picked up his clothes and walked to where she couldn’t see him. He was back in front of her soon enough as human with clothes on. She shook her head and stood up, “Later…” She whispered walking back inside.

Ava’s mind was processing this. He was a wolf… A werewolf…  How in the world was she going to live with him?

No! Ava… You’re not going to live with him. Never! This isn’t a dream… Werewolves really exist. Ava went back to the room she woke up and laid down. Sleep... She needed sleep… Soon she was asleep.

“Ava! Come eat!” Her Mother called to her. Ava was outside playing. She stood up and wiped her hands on her shirt and ran inside for lunch. She washed her hands and sat at the table. A sandwich was placed in front of her.

Ava gobbled it down fast and then ran back outside. She was making mud pies. That’s when she met him. The man that killed her Mother. “Hello Mia Bella,” he said and Ava looked at him blinking.

“What’s… Mia Bella mean sir?” She asked him and he laughed.

“My beautiful,” he said and then looked at the house. “Where’s your Mother Ava?” He asked and Ava stood up taking his strangely cold hand and walking him inside.

“Momma!” Ava said in a singsong voice. “Visitor!” Her Mother came around the corner and shrieked.

“Monstro! Stai lontano da mia figlia!”

“Ah… Wise Mother you are,” he looked at the confused Ava. Bending down he whispered in her ear, “Go play outside. I have business with your Mother.”

Ava nodded and walked outside and started playing again. That’s when she heard a scream. It was her Mother. She ran back inside to see the guy with his mouth on her neck. “Momma!” She screamed and started beating on the guy’s legs.

He stopped and dropped her Mother. “Ava, mia figlia. You are no longer safe. My kin know about you. My human daughter… They’ll come for you… Soon. So run, run away.”

Ava awoke crying, “Mother…” She whispered. Vampires, she knew they were real. She just forgotten about them… She had to get out of here. She stood up and ran her right hand through her hair then rushed outside.

She looked at the path and sighed. She started walking down it. This should lead to the street. Right?

About thirty minutes later she was on the path and trying to hitch hike. “Come on… Someone stop…” she muttered. She stopped walking and sat down licking her chapped lips.

A car pulled in front of her and rolled down the window. It was a man; she smiled and stood up. “Need a ride?” he asked her and she nodded. He unlocked the door. Ava opened it and got in buckling.

“What’s your name? Mine name is Dmitri, I’m Russian before you ask.”

“Ava, I’m part Italian and I’m also Russian.”
