She felt them coming. She could hear them. See them. She felt them. She knew they were coming sooner or later. And she's glad that she gets to meet them. The strangers. She'll be the first person above Ember to meet them. And they'll be her friends. They'll love her and trust her. She'll look after them. They'll make her mayor. She'll finally be accepted somewhere. She'll finally have her own people to care for her. Her own people to notice that she's worth something. Because she's different. She's going to be great help. Because she can see what's to come. She can see into the future. And it's because of this, her people chucked her out of their town. Her own mother. The only female leader of the village of Sparks. And now that she lives alone, she has more visions, more chances to see threats to her personal safety in her dreams. And she knows that these Emberites could be. But not if she tames them and owns them. If she moulds them to be hers, she can control their behaviour and stop them being a threat to anyone. Because Tara's smart. Tara knows.
