Lovely Pain

I wrote this one back in 1996...

by Domri Stevens, 1996

My heart is embedded in a cache of thorns

My mind cries out for eternal peace

Like a bear in a trap,

My bones scream for the pain

Where did my heart go?

My mind doesn’t know

Do you even think of me?

In your dreams, do you take me in your arms?

Could we ever again, dance the dance of dreams?

I love you

Oh, the lovely pain

Ripping my heart to shreds

My night, my light, my love

Drag the lovely pain into my wavering heart

And kiss me goodnight

For shall I see you no more?

Bring me peace eternal from the lovely pain

And I will draw…my last breath.
